September Reprint

By CommanderDom, in Twilight Imperium 3rd Edition

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and the game. I've read the rulebook and the game seems awesome. Like my dream game come true.

I was looking for a place to buy it and discovered that it is not available at many retailers since the game is scheduled for a reprint in september.

However I have the following question since I don't know what a FFG reprint entails:

Will the september reprint includes changes in the rulebook and cards from the errata or will it be the exact same game as what can be found on the shelves right now?

Thanks in advance.

CommanderDom

FFG does sometimes makes corrections in reprints of their games, however, all the corrections they're liable to make are usually made in the second or third print run. TI3 is well past this point, so I think it's safe to say that the Semptember reprint will be identical to what's on the shelf right now. Unless the copy of the shelf has been sitting around unsold for over five years. =)

The only reason I can think of to hold off would be due to plastic colouring. Apparently the exact shade of dye used for some of the colours has changed over the years (for reasons undisclosed) and as a result the new plastic in Shard of the Throne doesn't exactly match the old plastic from several years ago. The difference is very minor judging by the pictures I've seen, but this is still enough to irritate some people. I'm not sure if current copies of the base game would exactly match Shards, but the September reprints probably would. Google the issue or check out the threads on Boardgamegeek.com to see examples.

I'm currently deciding whether to cancel an order and wait for September - definitely not worth it then?

I bought the base game recently so I assume it is a somewhat recent printing.

My game has all of the errata included except for Advanced Fighters, I think (and presumably only because there isn't room left on the card to print). I very much doubt that this will change in the next printing.

I just want to make sure that you are aware that you really aren't "missing out" on a lot of printing fixes if you order now - they are almost all covered in the latest version as it is.
