Newbie looking for a tutor

By Zephryl, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Well my shiny new Core Set is being delivered, and in the mean time I was hoping someone would be able to teach me how to actually play, using Octgn and MSN/IRC if Octgn has no chat feature

I'm in the GMT +10 timezone, and wouldn't be able to play until 4PM+ on weekdays.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section, I couldn't find a more suitable location for this topic, but I might've missed something.

Edit: Also, I only need to know the Core mechanics, as I don't plan to buy the expansions yet

Still looking for someone to teach me. Seems I'm getting lots of views but no replies, is there nobody interested? Or am I just in a bad time zone?

I'd guess time zone is the biggest issue. Although I don't know how many people use octgn.

Have you looked at the online video introduction- i think if you go to the AGoT page in the catalogue, then look in "support" it's round there somewhere

Dang, there's not much I can do about the time zone. Though, just got this Semesters class schedule and turns out I only have classes three days a week, so I'm much more flexible time-wise the other days.

And yeah, I've checked out the introduction video, it was very helpful but I'd feel a lot more comfortable about my ability to teach my friends how to play if I'd at least played a couple games myself.

Also, does anyone know where I can find a list of the cards in the default decks of the Core Set? Trying to build them in Octgn, but I can't seem to find a list of the exact cards in each of the 4 decks.

AGoTcards.org has a good card search that you can use. Just click on the Core Set link and it will have it grouped by house. Just look for the L, S, B, and T next to the card number and it will tell you which house it goes with.

Hope this helps

Thanks! Those links were amazingly helpful. Just one last question; most of the plot cards are Neutral. Are they seperated into specific decks in the Core Set? Or does it not matter where they go?

Like all the other cards, you can identify which pre-made deck they belong to by checking the letter in front of the card number. That should not keep you from switching plots around, though, if you feel it would help balancing some of the decks.

OH! I see it now, thanks! You've been a great help!

I think I'll stick with the default sets for now, until I have a grasp of the game

Fair enough :)

I've never played with the vanilla Core Set decks, but I hear they are fairly balanced (at least for multiplayer games).

An interesting time zone, May I ask where abouts you play? Oz?

That said, i should be able to go through with you a bit, don't know how consistently i can play... but yeah.

If I have my timezones right... i should be good to play 8pm onwards, your time...

Yeah, Australia. Tasmania to be precise.

That'd be great! Also, if it helps, it's currently 5:33PM my time.

Would you like my MSN/email/etc so we can organize something when you're available?
