A Minor Artistic Annoyance,

By Wight walker, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Greetings All!

I'm new to the AGoT card game, but I'm a fan of Martin's books. Anyways I picked up the core set about a month ago, and couldn't help but notice that the Benjen Stark card's artwork would be a better illustration for the Onion Knight. The illustration clearly depicts the Davos character, a hand with stubby fingers holding a dagger that has stabbed an onion. Perhaps the sigil of the horse in the background was mistaken for a direwolf. Although I don't recall Benjen or Davos having anything related to a horse. Davos was a smuggler, who saved Stannis by smuggling onions via his ship, a seaworthy fellow. Benjen rode horses....Also Stealth would be more fitting for Davos.

Hi and Welcome to the Game of Thrones card game. As you get into the game more you'll probably notice some cards that look like great depictions of the characters to you and others that just don't seem to match how you imagined them at all. Its unavoidable in a series like Thrones being translated into a game with many different artists all with their own imaginings of characters. Sometimes different versions of the same character have a different feel due to different artists (Catelyn and the Blackfish immediately come to mind). Other times no version will quite match your imagination. To me every single version of Brienne is too attractive for my own imaginings of Brienne. Brienne cards have never looked as unattractive as she is described in the books. But thats to be expected when the beauty of literature is that different people will imagine the visuals differently. Heck HBO somehow thinks Syrio Forel has an afro instead of being bald ?!?

Oh and most versions of Davos have had stealth. The Core set version you mention doesn't but the newest chapter pack version has Stealth:

And my absolute favorite version of Davos of all time (from the old CCG blocks that are retired now) has Stealth as well as art that I think is perfect (its obvious he has 3 fingers):

Well, you are wrong. Benjen stark .

BTW if I remember correctly, Davos lost only last joints of his fingers except for thumb.

his fingers are just folded under anyways, not actually missing...

When you hold something in your hand your fingers bend... and you only see part of the fingers from certain angles...
