How does monster movement work?

Can monsters move without the use of the ability cards the keeper uses? If so how many spaces do they move total? I did a search of the forum and it turned up nothing.

Sorry if this has a painfully obvious answer.

Monsters only move when you play a keeper action card that would move the monster there isn't any other way unless there is a special rule for the story your playing. Otherwise they just kinda chill.
