A bit of confusion on the wording.

Limited response: After you win a power challenge in which at least 1 raider character participated, discard the top X cards of the losing opponent's deck. X is the amount by which you won the challenge.

Is the amount won the difference between the the defender and attackers strength or is it the total amount of attacking strength in the challenge?
