July 17th, Allthingsfun Tourney Recap-Joust

By gimlicolby, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Allthingsfun in Berlin, NJ (allthingsfun.net) started hosting tournaments three months ago. They host a tourney on a monthly basis. The tourney was scheduled for July 17th. Joust was scheduled for 1 PM start followed by melee. We had 14 players show up for this tourney. It is amazing to see the community grow so fast. Just 2-3 months ago everyone was running Bara and Stark. Now we have a mix of players in all the different houses. The 14 players included 9 fromour local and 5 from Delaware.....One of which was the World Champion. He designed The Laughing Storm. I cant remember his name right now.

14 players

Deck Breakdown from what I remember:

1 Greyjoy Winter

1 Martell Summer

1 Martell Brotherhood

3 Lannister Kneel Decks

4 Targ Decks...3 running Dragons, 1 Dothraki

2 Stark decks both running Siege....one was running House Bolton

2 Bara Decks

1st (4-0)-Greyjoy (World Champion)

2nd(3-1)- Martell Brotherhood

3rd(3-1)-House Boldton Stark Siege

Tied for 4th (3-1): Me (Targ Dragon) and the Other Stark Siege Player

I will give a recap of my rounds later. I did not stay for the melee. It was late and had to get home to the family. I am chomping at the bit for next months joust.

Sorry, Hermann ;)

So am I the only one who, on first glance, read this as "Afghanistan Tourney?"

That said, congratulations. It's always nice to see the community expanding.

Great to here that a meta is rising in NJ! There's a Google group/listserv for East Coast players, used for announcing events just like the one you guys held; some of the DE guys who attended your tournament are on it. I'd encourage you NJ players to head over to the group's page, sign up, and announce your events when they come up. Might be the case that some of our players in DC would have an easier time making events in NJ...

Glad to hear that a new player base is building up. I am in central NJ and would love it if it were easier to find out when people were playing in Philly, NYC, and in between. Sometimes things show up in general discussion, sometimes in organized play, sometimes in metagame discussions and sometimes none of the above.

Thanks I will definitely use it for next month, They plan on running Joust and Melee events once a month on a Sunday on the same day.

We play casually on MOndays, wednesday and Sundays.

The rest of my tourney recap:

Rd 1 vs Luff playing Martell Summer. I was playiing Targ Dragon Summer (Basic Idea came from the Italian Nationals 3rd Place Deck which can be found in constructed decks)

I see that he is playing kings of summer and let him fetch the ravens while I fetched a maester. This game was in my favor but the annoying martell events and venomous blade were a hinderance. My opponent is a great fried but he was playing a little on the slow side. I think we only got through 6 plots by the time time was called (50minutes). I won with 10 power to his 6.

Rd 2 vs ScottieATF playing Martell Brotherhood

Scott is a good player in our local meta with any game he plays. I knew this was going to be tough.I figured he loaded up on the broken stuff. Sidenote: These were my first 2 games against Martell, so i didnt really know what I was in for. In this game he plot 1 summoning season while I used building season He fetched up Berric (boo). He also had another bother hood player out with a copy on it. He loaded up on equipment on the two. Berric had a flaming sword, poisoned knife, and a taste for blood while the other guy had a poisoned knife. He also was able to get a couple venomous blades working for him. I tried my best to fight but my attachment hate (which the deck runs plenty of) was missing. He won this game by plot 5....15 to 6.

Rd 3 vs Jacke (Delaware) playing Lannister Kneel

Another deck I havent really played against. I ref lacrosse and ave a new son so my time is eaten up elsewhere. He get sthings going and jumps to a quick 6-2 lad. Pyrat Pree starts killing things and I start using flame kissed and daenrys tent recursion. I also run the pyromancers cache and it was huge to hit my draw cap each round. I fight through 3 castellans. We get to plot 6 and I fight up to10 power.....I cant win next turn since my last plot is Valar. I figure if I can weather plot 7 I can win on plot 8. I valar and then my opponent drops some characters. I drop Dragon Queen DAenerys and Rhaegal. I survive the round with the lead 10-7. Plot 8, I play retaltion. He drops a ton of dudes on the table. I play Belrion and he scoops. Very fun game. MVPS: Hatchling Feast showing up twice and Balerion for the win

Rd 4 vs Darryl (Delaware) playing Targ Dothraki Summer

This game gets out of control when I get the recursion of the flame kissed. The deadly on Qarth Assassin helps get through some power....The power of the dragons and the recurrable flame kissed was just too much. But it was a very enjoyable and friendly match.

This deck was a blast and I wish I could of stayed for the melee. Maybe ScottieATF will give a report of the melee. All I know is that Jack from Delaware won.
