Older Chapter packs ARE being reprinted in 3x format!

By f7eleven, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Did anyone else notice that the Upcoming page ( http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_upcoming.asp ) lists Chapter packs from the Kings Landing and Defenders of the North cycle as being reprinted as 20x3?

Reprinted does not mean redisgned but fingers crossed anyway, it would solve all my deck building problems!

I'll have to check, because the last time I looked (which was 1-2 months ago) that text wasn't included in the descriptions I read. But it would be really, really cool if this was the case. I'd buy one of each CP again, and possibly more of the one with The Hand's Judgement (even with Paper Shield reprinted).

I still can't find anything to suggest the reprints are being done in the new collation format. I'm sure there would have been an announcement by FFG that this was being done before the reprints appeared on the upcoming page. Also, it'd be odd to do it in such a random fashion, with a couple of King's Landing cycle packs and a couple of Seasons cycle packs, rather than starting with one cycle. All these things make me think the reprints are just that, with no switch in the collation.

"Secrets and Spies is the fifth monthly installment of 60 fixed cards..."

Of course it may be a mistake...

Ah. Hmmm. Not sure what to make of this. I still think FFG wouldn't be so clandestine about it, nor so random. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hopefully they do. Itll be easier for guys coming into the game like myself.

FFG is generally clandestine firm. And not random, just those packs was sold out, I think. And why not? It's logical. CoC was reprinted x3, right?

But we did get the announcement of the revised editions of Kings of the Sea and Princes of the Sun, so I'd think FFG would announce the revised chapter packs as well. I don't play nor follow CoC, but I assume they got an announcement for the revised reprints?

I also imagine they'd be more systematic about releasing revised reprints, and not just whatever was out of stock. I could be wrong, of course. How'd they do it for CoC?

This is good for new players, but seriously irritating to veterans.

I have spent $120+ (two KoTS and two PoTS) and still do not have a playset of things that new players will spend $60 for. And this is not counting all of the excellent cards that required buying more than one chapter pack to get.

I think that if I bring in my KoTS and PoTS and old chapter pack boxes they should bump me up to a playset of each card.

Changing to include 3x of each card was an excellent move, but re-releasing the older products in this format is not fair to those of us who have been playing for a long time now.

First of all, that's a silly argument, methinks. Second, it's not even confirmed that they are reprinting the chapter packs as 3x20.

Maybe the PR dept is a little behind schedule.

As I've done with all reprints released in triplicate collation so far, I'd be willing to buy x1 to x2 of each CPs all over again (need them to round out my boardgamey decks)!

Because you suffered with horrible chapter pack set up, you want others to suffer through the same? or you want compensation for FFG improving on the LCG model?

Buying a 3x pack to supplement your 1x pack is still cheaper than buying two more 1x packs. If you already have/paid for three 1x packs, consider it a "premium" for the amount of time you've been able to enjoy the cards. In other words -- I really don't see the problem here lengua.gif

No one should be focusing on the fact that they bought the cards before a 3x reprint. That's a sunk cost, and you decided that a play set was worth valuable enough to buy 3 chapter packs. I'm in the same boat even though I've only been playing a few months.

It's nothing but positive if FFG reprints them as 3x.

FFG can do no wrong when they are in the business of making newcomers smile...
...and their wallets groan less than those of their precursors'!

GO! GO!! FFG!!!

I just wish they'd announce it one way or the other! I was looking at the King's Landing cycle the other day on Dabbler- some really nice cards there, but crazy choices for which ones are only 1x - i want to know whether to go out and get a set, or wait for the re-print.

Does anyone have an update on whether this is going to happen or not?

FFG maybe, but they're not telling us.

Yes they are. It is known.

It is known...

(why am i getting an "error" message saying "too short to post"...?)

Someone asked Damon (AGoT LCG designer) about this very question.

I just started playing last November and have purchased all the chapter packs. While I obviously wish a 3x A Clash of Arms was availible when I started, I'm glad FFG is moving in this direction, making it a true fixed-format and more accessible to all the newbs being drawn in by the HBO series.

Hi, I'm new to the game and a bit confused. I still see most internet retailers listing Kings Landing Chapter Packs as 40 card expansions. Is this just because they have old text or are the reprints not out yet?

Reprints are not out yet. Chapter pack reprints haven't even been announced. Maybe they will this weekend with Gen Con, or maybe it won't be until whole cycles are ready for reprint.
