My First Deck -- Please help me to improve it

By ktei2008, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

Hi, gusy: I'm still new to this game and last night I tried to build my own deck of Stark. Please give some comments and help me to improve it. I know there may be a lot defects of this deck but anyway your help is really appreciated.

Nymeria 3x

Direwolf Pup 3x

Host of the Bear 3x

Lady 1x

Jon Snow (CS) 1x

Arya Stark (King's Landing) 1x

Locations

Narrow Sea 3x

Godswood 2x

Widows's Watch 3x

Wolfswood 2x

Great Keep 1x

Winterfell Castle 1x

Street of Steel 2x

Events

Wolf Dreams 3x

At Night They Howl 3x

Attachments

Ice 1x

Bodyguard 3x

Crown of Winter 3x

Except agend cards, plot cards and house card, there are 65 cards in total. So, my objective is very straightforward: The core characters are Robb Stark, Shaggydog and Grey Wind so they have maximum duplicates. For Robb, I add Crown of Winter and Bodyguard and The Power of Blood to give him as much protection as possible. Then, I use as many wolfs as possible because they can work with the events. Widow's Watch is useful when I need to find duplicate quickly. Luwin is just for searching event cards.

And that's it. Hope you guys can help me. Thank you very much! By the way, I used it to play against Targaryen, and to my surprise, I won!

Well, the most glaring thing is you have two copies of "Street of Steel" which is illegal. May only have one copy of it in your deck.

May offer more input later when I have time.

Right. I just realized that.

OK, with more time to put some thought to it, here's my input.

Plots: Actually, your plots aren't terrible. I'd only swap out Building Season for Battle of Oxcross. I like the rest of them.

Characters: I'd make some adjustments there. I'd go from 3 of Nymeria to 1. From 3 Shaggydog and Greywind to 2 each. From 3 Summer to 1. I'd either change Sansa to the KL version or cut her entirely. Go from 3 Luwin to 2. And I'd swap out the Host of Bear with Riders of the Red Fork. In place of the cuts, I'd add 3 carrion bird (to protect you from summer). The reduction in some of the wolves is because of my thoughts on your locations (see below).

Locations: I'd add in 2 Northern Fiefdoms to give yourself some more resources. I'd cut Winterfell Castle for Winterfell Kennels. This way, you can use the Kennels to search for whatever wolf you want. This also frees up 3 event slots which can be used for something else (I have ideas for that too). Since you have Widow's Watch, you don't need 3 Luwin, especially since you are also running the maester search plot.

Events: I'd cut the Wolf Dreams and add in 3 Battle of Whispering Wood or Battle of Ruby Ford, whichever you prefer. This will give you more military challenges, which will in turn better utilize your agenda.

Attachments: Nothing really to add here except that some of the attachments you are running you listed under characters (Nymeria, Shaggydog, Greywind as examples).

General thoughts: If you could find a way to add 3 To be a Wolf events in there, I think you'd get good use out of them. Looks like draw would be a problem with this deck. You have some search which helps, but I think you need some sort of draw mechanic to make your deck more consistent. Guards at Riverrun and Blackfish are staples in many Stark decks, but not sure if you want them due to your wolf focus. Could even use Guards instead of Host or Riders as I mentioned above.

Hope I've given you some things to consider. Good luck!

Well, ASolaFfan, can't thank you more! I'm working right now so I'll go through your advice thoroughly tonight. Thank you man!

Its a joust deck I assume? Knowing melee or joust will help with providing feedback...

Yeah, I think I was building it aiming on joust.
