New to the game

He guys.

I am new to this game, and have posted a couple of rules queries online. So far the community has been super helpful.

I was wondering if somone could recommend to me what I should buy in order to start building some more intricate decks. I bought a core set and a couple of chapter packs, but these were not so useful. Is buying a second core set vital, in order to get 3 of the holdings and more basic cards?

I read Darkbanes article from ages ago, where he reccomended getting Lords of Winter and King of Storms. Am I right in saying you get a a full playset of each card in these? Are there similar expansions for the other houses, where you get 3x of each of the cards? I get the impression that, initally, expansions are better than chapter packs as they give you 3x of the cards?

I found somewhere in the UK to byu them online, but was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good UK store to buy online from?

Cheers,

Stu.

That depends. Unless you play Lannister or Targaryen, I don't recommend buying more than 1 core set. Buy deluxe expansion for your House.

Yep. Note that you need "revised edition" in case of Kings of the Sea and Princes of the Sun.

Really? Even if you buy Queen of Dragons?

(I'm extremely new to this as well, by the way... Haven't even gotten a game going beyound a brief trial joust round yet...)

Yes because certain key Targ cards like ""Forever Burning" and others only are found in the core set and only come as a single in the core set.

It's not as vital as it used to be, but a second Core Set probably isn't a bad idea. It gives you some extra versatility in deck building.

As with the others, I would also recommend going with a couple of the box expansions before going to packs. As mentioned above, with Martell (Princes of the Sun) and Greyjoy (Kings of the Sea) make sure you get the version that has 3 of each card.

Yeah, the list of nice neutral cards you might like is small. Westeros Bleeds is another good one, but if you can find a player from the CCG days it was re-printed several times and kept the same text.

Actually, from a quick glance, here's the other events in the CS and the neutral attachments and locations you might need.

*-Reprints, **-Rare (old) reprints, ***-not technically direct reprints, but suitable for casual play. The FAQ states:

This ruling does not apply to CCG cards that have been modified and printed in the LCG. CCG copies of cards with text that is in any way different than their LCG counterparts are not legal in LCG events.

It is interesting to note that it doesn't specify that direct reprints _are legal_. :)

Cheers for the replies.

I ordered a Baratheon and Stark expansion, and have a Targ box ready to pick up

I think I will deffo pick up a second core set because I like alot of the cards, like guilty and poisoned wine.... these may not be the "power cards" but I'd rather just mess about building decks to start than read lists and build immense decks. Obv some of my play group are straight in there ordering the Greyjoy deck thart won worlds!
