Hello all!

I'm just starting out, and will hopefully be joining a game of Dark Heresy soon playing a Tech Priest. I have some questions that hopefully someone can answer for me.

1) What do Spare Parts actually do? Using the search function and some Google it seems they're an abstraction so that your tech priest can repair things without everyone involved actually knowing how said thing works. That's all well and good, but where in the books does it actually say that?

2) How do you get more Spare Parts? Do you buy them? Do you just hope your GM gives you some?

3) My friend owns the book Blood of Martyrs and in it there are some background things you can take for exp. One of them is Omnissian Apostate, and it lists two skills. Do those skills now count as trained for me? I'm not sure exactly what else would happen, but I'm open to suggestions.

4) Tech Priests start with some skills and talents, but some of those same skills and talents are in the chart for Technographer (the first rank of Tech Priest). Can you take them again? What happens if you do?

Spare parts have no specific mechanical effect, just like amasec or cigalho.

They are more flavor gear.

Of course, from an RP point of view, if you find a broken machine and it happened that you have the good spare part to repair it, that's just fine.

They are just mentionned in case you come to that Career's Rank from another path.

For example, if you look in Blood of Martyr you will see that Sisters Dialogus, for example, are Adept, but with other begining Skills that a normal Adept.
