Torch vs. "Basement or any room in Darkness"

By TheIndomitableEm, in Mansions of Madness

We just purchased MoM about a week ago, and have played it twice so far (story 1 and 2). In both situations, we came up against a somewhat unclear situation. There is a keeper card that can be played when an Investigator is in a "Basement or any room in darkness". This card references either the investigator losing some sanity because he can't find the light switch or there being a pair of glowing red eyes in the darkness.

The question is this: does the torch or lantern items negate this card from working? The torch and lantern both say you can ignore the darkness in a room in darkness, but would it also work for the other rooms (basement, attic, etc.) that aren't necessarily in darkness?

Let me know what you guys think. If I need to clarify anything, I am glad to do so. :)

I believe the card in question is the Mythos card 'Eyes in the Dark', the torch or lantern can help you for the 'a room darkness' part.

However, the card doesn't require the Basement to be in darkness, so the torch can't help you there.

Hope that help!

Oddly, that's different from what I first read your post as until I quoted it... odd board behaviour, obviously. However, that's my reading of the situation also.

@CraggleRock - Yeah, I mis-read the question and provided a wholly incorrect answer, Realised my mistake and edited my post quick-smart! You must've just caught the post seconds before the edit. Lucky me or my fate would've been sealed!
