What are you building?

Are you building both forces? A single force? or what? Any special themes?

I am building primarily a Axis Army. Both a friend and I got the core box set and he is doing allies. We swapped 1 walker and 1 squad to bolster our main armies but retained 1 walker, 2 squads and the hero from the opposing army. We also split the figs out of Operation Cyclone and Operation SeeLowe. The goal is to have Axis force as my main army and a secondary, smaller force of Allies. Though I do plan on getting the Red Devils to bolster my meagre allies, they just look cool.

My theme is a rogue Axis command. One that was displeased not whit the assassination of der Furher but with how the nation has been handled since the event. A rogue Oberst (Colonel) who distrusts the Von Thalers and despises Sigrid and her ilk. He is a former SS Oberst and I do plan on him enlisting all sorts of nasty science gone mad forces (Walkers, Zombies, Apes and thinking of using werewolves somehow). His secondary goal (after crushing the Allies) is to rid Germany of the Blutzkreuz and its influences.

Finished a starter box and added Command Squads, Operation Cyclone, and Tank/Bot Killers to both armies.

Painted a second starter set that I've sold.

Next up are:

101st Airborne

Fallchrimjager (sp)

Zombie/Gorilla Army

Lets see here , 2 boxed sets command squads and special ops both factions ,5 walkers per faction . Germans are seperated into 2 forces DAK and SS NO SWASTIKAS ALLOWED just the colors. Allies are going a little slower cause my son is an Imperial Fists fan and it was only recently announced that the Red Devils are coming. Now they will be able to say "For The Empire" and be close enough . Russians are still being converted from Red Blok AT-43. Not much happening on my work bench just a tsunami. gran_risa.gif

Yeah, I was wondering about the whole swastika issue. Not sure if I want to do it or not. If I did, it would probably just on my commander's arm or something. You get such bad press using th swastika, even when doing it on a fictional army that doesnt really represent your philosophies, just trying to be quasi historically accurate, sort of. LOL.

Iorn Crosses a definate, maybe skulls. Maybe do the thinly hidden V the original series Alien swastika LOL

I just received one base set yesterday and just ordered my second today. I also received my two command squads for both sides. As I am just getting into this game, I have not found anyone to play with so I'm just building a good base army for both sides. The cost of the base sets cannot be beaten for the ammount of stuff you get. This game really caught my eye as I do not like the hardcore element of 40k and such, as well as the cost. I am a bit worried that the game will expand way more than I am willing to keep up with. I do plan to buy both expansions for the heroes tho.

I imagine that game will get overwhelming in the future, if it makes it past 5 years. Miniature games require new minis and units to come out all the time in order to keep making money, otherwise they have to solely count on new players. But I like the way FFG is doing it. Affordable prices, small squads, simple rules.

I would like to see a Eastern Front expansion box set to add russians to the game and a Rising Sun expansion as well to get the Japanese in the game.

So far one of everything that was released as a Deluxe or Premium painted version, including heros released in Operation Cyclone and SeeLowe. Then I have two starter boxes, one painted one not. Two more copies of Operation Cyclone and SeeLowe, one of each painted. Then the following expansionsall painted by me. They are also all painted in the winter camo:

Allies

The Gunners Expansion

Recon Boys Expansion

Boss Expansion

Medium Assault Walker Expansion x3

Special Ops Ranger Expansion x2

Light Assault Walker x2

Axis

Battle Grenadiers Expansion

Recon Grenadiers Expansion

Medium Panzer Walker x3

Loth

Kommandotrupp Expansion

Special Ops Grenadiers Expansion x2

Light Panzer Walker x2

I have found the Balkenkreuz and Iron Cross to be suitable for representing what I want on the battlefield. As far as the amount of miniatures I really dont consider that an obstacle . When I was 20 I had an entire chapter of Space Marines (White Panthers) with Rhinos and Land Raiders. Now that I am much older and more financially sound I can spend stupid amounts of money for my entertainment . . . Just as long as I pay all of the bills at the first of the month and my wife has all the spending money she wants.

I am an Ally player exclusively. Me and an Axis buddy split 2 core sets to begin with. I have one of every expansion currently. I had thought of doing a rocket commando force, but may just stick with a balanced Ally force. At some point I will be picking up one more Light Walker box, and me and my Axis friend will be doing the double core set split again when the revised core set comes out. I will also resist temptation of any future armies/factions/races and stick to being an exclusive Ally player throughout my life in this game, which is literally the only mini's game i have played over the last 2 or 3 months and the only one I really desire to play recently.
