Hi
the other day I was going through my stand-ups, organizing them and checking them off. A Laborious work I can tell you, having all wfrp 3 products, and several copies of some. However I ended up with these 3 guys whom I can’t figure out. I’ve gone through the monster cards, and even cross-checked them with a list from all my available sources…but to no avail.
I hope there is some experts that can assist me figuring out what kind a creatures they are, so they can find their rightful place in my Great Box of Stand-ups.
In advance thanks for helping out.
What monsters are these?
Fig 1 I think is a Ghoul (but I seem to recall that there might be another Ghoul standup as well), It might also be a Strigoi vampire.
Fig 2 Looks a lot like a Vampire to me. Von Carstein or Blood Dragon by the looks of it. Works as a Cairn Wraith as well though.
Fig 3 Is a beast of Nurgle if I remember correctly. I'm quite sure that he can be found either in the creatures vault or in the Liber Infectus.
I think a lot of standups showed up in the creatures vault with "alternate appearances" to make it look a bit more fun on the gaming table and giving the GM the possibility to use some for special NPC's, like using the special Ghoul standup to represent a more dangerous and powerful ghoul than the other ghouls. So there might be some standups that have no creature card with their picture (like the ghoul and the vampire).
thanks for your suggestions.
come to think of it figure1 could be a ghoul, but not a Crypt Ghoul then. Since the Creature Guide is specific with names like Cairn wraiths or Crypt ghouls, I have to wonder if other similar monsters will appear in the future like, Swamp ghouls, or even desert ghouls?
figure 2, could be a Necrarch vampire. But I think it is a wraith.
This springs to my attention, why not print the name of the creature of NPC near the bottom on the standup? I Would welcome that.
good gaming
1) Ghoul (crypt ghouls in FaBa are unit leaders so slightly bigger)
2) Nechrach vampire
3) Beast of Nurgle from Liber Infectus. Namely the beast for the cult given in monster descriptions.

I agree to that. It would be a very good thing if they did.

thanks for your suggestions, together with K7e9 suggestions, I have so fare concluded with that figure 1:) is indeed a Crypt Ghoul or Ghoul, and figure 3:) a Beast of Nurgle (although its description on page 22 on Liber Infectus suggest that the picture is a Beast of Nurgle).
figure 2:) could still be a necrarch vampire, but no such profile exist for such a creature in this edition right? and so fare all standups presented do have a corresponding statistic right? with the exception of Reik eels. So that leads me to think that even though it is a picture of a nechrach vampire it represent another creature for this purpose.
there must be correlation between standups and creature statistics presented in the various products. I think I should adress this directly to FFG, together with a suggestion of printing the name of the creature or npc near the bottom of the standup.
anyway thank you very much guys for your wise suggestions.

One of the silliest things in WHFR3 is the fact that creature / npc 's names aren t written on standups.
I think it great that they haven't printed the names in the standups. When I occasionally use them I would hate to have careers and whatnots written in evey piece as this would no doubt confuse my players.
"This here represents the bailiff called Otto Kruger."
"Waaaaaaiiit it says "hunter" here!"
"What was the hunter called Otter again?"
And so forth.
I see your point there Doc_Cthulhu, use the standups as you see them fit. But that leaves clueless persons like me wondering about where to put them in my neat box. But I found a temporary solution I filed them under "undefined standups". case closed . hehe
maybe if they printed the text at the bottom, so the plastic would partially conceal the text. I don't know.

Heya,
I believe 3 is an alternate Nurgle Daemon Prince. His picture appears in the cult description section, but the Beast of Nurgle is the snake looking thing on the page with its description (its a slug with a medusa like head).
I plan to just use it as a prince or a really big Nurgle champion.
Anyone remember what set the vampire came with? Is there a sidebar in one of the adventures that mentions him?
He's on sheet 6/6 of the standees in the Creature Vault, but isn't mentioned on any of the cards. If he's a repeat from another adventure, he's definitely NOT from Signs of Faith, Winds of Magic, or Edge of Night. (I don't use my standees, so I checked the sheets really quickly.)
Sorry I can't help, Mal, but your descriptions of the critters made me laugh!!
On the Warhammer online page I found a concept art picture of the fig. 3 monster, and they called it a Nurgle Spawn. You have to scroll down a bit on this page to find it: www.warhammeronline.com/newsletterarchive/2008/February2008.html
Here's a link for the picture only: mythicmktg.fileburst.com/war/us/home/images/newsletter/2008_02/spawn02.jpg
On page 24 in the creature's guide there are rules for Chaos Spawns and maybe they just gave us an alternate look for the spawn.

Pleased to hear you liked my jokes, even Uncle Alfred laughed at it, in his very eerie-"gonna-outlive-you-all-bastards" kinda way.

That was some impressive detective work there k7e9. found some excellent pictures on that site of yours, thanks for sharing. The last piece of the puzzle has now been resolved.
