Ok, just played a game with AH, DW and KiY, all components. I had 4 investigators (gloria goldberg, mark harrigan, bob jenkins and Ashcan), all random draws. Played against Shub-Niggurath w/ KiY Herald. It was a AO slaughter as I very quickly hit the 7 gate limit which of course woke ol Shubbie up. And then of course everyone ended up being eaten. Now the stupid question. I know monsters in Dunwich do not count towards the monster limit. What about the gates. It just seems that with 5 additional gate locations to cover it would be neigh on impossible to win. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Played game with new expansions and have a stupid question
No, all the gates count. Things get harder with Dunwich, no doubt. You should probably get in the habit of closing a low frequency gate if there are more than four gates open.
yeah I kinda feared that was the case. Ok will try again. same setup new investigators!

You're playing a whole new game now :'D
Gates in the other towns count towards the limit but playing with more than 1 expansion board increases the gate limit.

Often, but not always.
Playing with 2 expansion boards reduces the effective investigator number by 1, which might increase the gate limit, or might not.
Playing with 3 expansion boards reduces the effective investigator number by 2, which will definitely increase the gate limit.
In addition, if both Dunwich and Innsmouth are in play the gate limit is increased by a further 1.
So playing with 2 expansion boards - depending on what they are and which investigators you have - might increase the gate limit by 0, 1 or 2.
