Breakout through St. Lo questions

In the special rules section it says the following: Starting in round 3, each Command phase wich a squad with an American officer is in the church, the American player may use the Artillery II deck.

Does it mean that the American player need an officer in the church to draw a card from the deck and also to play it?

I guess this is only to draw a card from the deck but , I could be wrong... what do you think?

And by the way, anyone as tried this scenario? Any tactics useful for the german?

Thanks for the help.

It would be to draw it, once the card is in your HQ I don't see any reason you wouldn't be able to play it even if you moved the officer out of the church.

unfortunately I haven't been able to run through the campaigns enough to offer any advice. For me it usually takes 2 or 3 times through it playing one side to come up with the various strategies for tackling the scenario.

I played this scenario as American and it was a tough fight. I did manage a minor victory. My oponent was a seasoned veteran gamer. My advice would be , do not try to hold the entire town, defend and fall back to the portion of the board that has the three German reinforcement entry hexes. Keep some infantry loaded, if possible ,to threaten the other two victory point hexes that the Americans can easily take but might forget when they go for one or both of the other victory point hexes. Keep buying reinforcements, you will need them as your losses will be heavy. Use artillary effectively. Do not allow the Americans to control the 5 hex woods on your flank.

Further note that when setting up the board that the map numbers are all wrong, go by what the map looks like

any idea where to deploy the 1st panther tank?

I just noticed that american division 2 receive 1 squad base composed of 2regulars and 2officers. Is it correct?
