I really doubt the game would be taking this long if they were going to just put the Gears of War skin over an older game system. FFG has made quite an effort to incorporate new and fresh mechanics to their games. I'm sure they won't skimp for this game, ecspecially considering how long it has been in the making.

There might be good things to be done with the mechanics of the Gears games, mainly stop and pop, teamwork and a good mix of combat. That being said, I agree that it has it's job cut out for it if it wants to stand out from the crowd.

Come on FFG, throw us a bone here. Is this game still really in the works?

Still throwing out the idea of pre painted minis, like Tannhauser. Could come out with character and unit packs.

Gears of War 3 was 'officially' announced last night... and we have a teaser trailer to watch, and soon new Avatar items on the Live Marketplace....

Now all we need is news on the GoW boardgame!

Well, they finally changed the "expected by" date from Q4 '09 to 2010. But I suppose that's not the news we are looking for. The Silence is deafening.

Licensed games can be a bear. The IP owner often wants releases to coincide with their own big release to maximize product awareness. They also want to ensure that the property meshes well with the IP.

I'm just glad to see that this is still on the calendar.

So no news from Gencon 2010 Im guessing? If the IP marketing theory is true, perhaps this release will coincide with the Gears 3 videogame next April?

I think that it would be time by now to remove the game from the upcoming games section... This is more than ridicolous by now...

I think I heard that GOW3 got pushed back from April to next fall, and if the intention was to announce or release around the same time, there could be our problem.

I think they're waiting to unveil it with the 10th anniversary edition of GoW 1.

for real this sounds like a great idea is there really no more chance for this game to be realised or is ffg still actually comtenplating this game
