Treasure and money on RtL

By amadou2, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi! I have few questions about RtL..

1. Do the money tokens give 100 gold or 400 gold (100 per player)? Isn't it too much 400 for just picking up a token, when killing a dungeon level leader gives the heroes just 100 and a Dungeon leader (and lts) gives them 250?

2. When rolling for treasures, does the blank die result means ONE treasure card or FOUR treasure cards (one per player)? That's a lot of treasure! You get aprox. 2 treasures every 3 chests, so after a couple of dungeons there are no more treasre cards!!

and 3. The rules say that if you don't get a treasure you gain 1 extre Conquest tkn. Is this true even if you roll a blank but there are no more treasure cards?

1. 400 coins. Yes, its quite a bit, but thats the rules.

2. One treasure card per blank roll, but it goes to anyone.

3. Erm... Good question, but I've known a situation where there are no treasure cards left. What are your heroes doing with them?

@Paul Grogan

You are not serious about 400 gp's being too much???

Experience are useless in this game for players. They get TONS and have nothing to do with them because you NEVER have enough money to get trained...

Skills, attributes, extra power dice, items, party items, potions..... there is not even close enough money in this game!

Cheers!

Is that even remotely possible? Remember that all discarded treasure cards (even from Crushing Blow) go back into the treasure deck and can be redrawn.

Theoretically it is possible... A friend mentioned the possibility of "Breaking" the treasure deck by keeping every treasure in the bag of holding, leaving nothing but the "treasure cache" cards. The next treasure draw would result in an infinate amount of gold and potions ;-)

Granted that was back before I discovered that the heroes are only supposed to get one treasure per blank, not one per hero per blank...

Oh right, I forgot the bag of holding.

Man, would Mata and Kata actually become a useful skill in RtL if they were combined with a Hero who had a Bag of Holding and had most of the treasure cards in it?

He'd be like a walking armory :-)

If they would mind me playing Crushing Blow on that bag? gran_risa.gif

Doesn't crushing blow hit a random piece of equipment (and not just equipped items)? If so, you're actually less likely to hit something useful the more the bag gets filled...

Crushing Blow is quite the pinpoint strike against equipment: it can't miss and the item destroyed is chosen by the Overlord (who has to pay a varying amount of threat).

its pritty easy if they gather 3000 gold in the first dungeon and go to the great market buying evrything they come across

after 2 dungeons they actualy only have 2 copper treasure cards left im getting wasted with the party combo they got

they got 1 melee with grapple

they got the guy with no armor but 2+ amount of power dice in melee so he now got 6 armor with 2 upgrades

they got adriana runehand with spiritwalker

and they got tthe guy who wont alow me to spawn within 5 spaces

Sounds like you are doing the Great Market wrong. It only 'refills' during the 'draw' stage if a treasure cache is drawn. It does not 'refill' after the heroes start buying treasures. Its a small technicality in the wording, but it sounds like you have just the problem that proves the incorrect interpretation is not only wrong but abuseably 'broken'.

The hero party cannot buy more than 5 treasures from the Great Market in a single week (unless they have some rumour upgrade I think that increases all markets by 1?).

Tough party too.
