Tank Types

By Ghengisgarber, in Tide of Iron

In some of the comments on the forum I have read that some of you would like different tank varieties. I have a solution. My group has done this,

There are many , many different WWII vehicles available in 1/285th scale which is very close in size to the models in TOI. Yes they are in 3 to 4 peices and need to be glued together and painted. We painted all models from TOI using some interesting camo schemes, and all the 285th scale models.

The next thing to do is to download the tank charts from the users scenarios. It is called EXPERIMENTAL RULES VOL 1 by Andras Kopesik, posted on 10/24/07 There is some tweaking needed on the charts, but a little research will help with this. Try adding some M8 greyhounds, or german 250 Halftrack to a recon force, or maybe a British armored car for desert scenarios. Change out that M10 to an M18. Add a german Wespe or a british priest as mobile artillary.

Another suggestion. After you have placed the game boards terrain tiles and appropiate makers, carefully put a piece of clear plexiglass over the game map. Now add some tiny bottlebrush trees, hex sized minature buildings and painted foam rubber hills. You have just added another dimension to the game. The third dimension.

For even more realism try the vehicle moment and facing rules ( same download as the tank charts) however scrap the turning rules, they are a pain in the --------. Face the tank either at a hexside or spline line at the end of movement.

You are now playing minatures using the Great TIDE OF IRON rules. Trust a die hard minatures player, YOU ARE ROCKING !!!!! happy.gif
