SO WHEN WILL WE SEE AIRCRAFT?
WHEN TO EXPECT AIRCRAFT??
CRICKETS CHIRPING.
Seriously, I can't be the only person interested in air power!
funny thing im just starting with this game, i cart see how aircraft will work movement wise ?
Yeah, while I eagerly await the aircraft, I can't really see how it could really work well with the game.
mantic just released their '40k' lite game, Warpath. they had a cool take on aircraft, basically doing sort of strafing runs. place it, can shoot and be shot at, then leaves at the end of turn if still intact. Rinse and repeat. something similar could work here.
Yup, thats worked in other games and is how my house rules work, well they might work, not tried them yet as I need some decent Allied AA weapons first.

That is how Flames of War does it.
That's how I thought it would work. I figured aircraft might be more of a Dust Warfare thing.

Since we are in an alternate history time-line we might even see helecoptors of some sort too.

In the Revised Core Rulebook's description of Aircraft Armor 1, it says: 1 : "Helicopters or other airborne troops." so, yeah, we'll likely see helicopters.
Actually, helicopters and some sci-fiish hover aircraft seem to fit the style of the game much better than airplanes. Helicopters can flitter from one spot of the board to the other, instead of just flying by on a strafing run like an airplane would.
sounds great ... figure hovercraft and choppers more likely then jets and bombers .... just based on game scale.
The reason why Germans don't need "Fast", they are going to ride in assault helicopters/hovercraft...
More mechanized assault stuff wouldn't hurt anything, but back on track, I'll bet we see fighters/bombers using the "here they come, there they go" rule. Plane sets up, all enemy with AA can fire at them if they wish, if the plane survives it does its thing (strafing/bombing) and flies away.

This makes sense, and that's why I'm wary of the airplanes. It just doesn't seem very cool to have a unit that just flashes by the gameboard, being effectively no different from some off-board artillery fire. That's why the idea of helicopters that might be something like Move 3, but which actually stay ON the board and participate more actively in the developments of the battle sounds much more appealing to me.
Yeah, give me StuKa's and Reichsflugscheiben ...... harrrr
1947 so no Stukas anymore flying coffins) but at least Schwalbes, komets, Meteors and the likes.
And Thunderbolts. And Corsairs. And Spitfires. And 109s and 190s, latest versions.
And Soviet jets of course!
actually, Germany had some helicopters during the war. Hanna Reish(?) demonstrated at least one inside an arena before the war. i once read that a couple were even used to rescue downed pilots on the eastern front. the raid on gran sasso was going to use copters to but the air was too thin. as for prop planes we use them even today. we used prop planes in a ground support role in 'nam and still have the 'specter' gunship up there. so i think planes like the bf110 and hs 129 would still be valid. and since i just built one of each and added some Dust guns as airsupport for my FJ.... what i really need are the 262 with cannon and go 229 (the horton brothers stealthy jet) in 1/48 scale...
@theguildlic
have you tried getting DML kits? they have a selection of German experimental aircraft. i think they have the go 229.
