Rule Books

By Peacekeeper_b, in Dust Tactics

I am really starting to like Dust a lot. (Though no thanks to Poalo Parente and his ego-fuelled sourcebook or that god aweful comic I bought). Its a lot liek Gear Krieg but done, well, right. In fact, Im pretty certain is may be a Gear Krieg rip off (look at the cover of the Gear Krieg Player's Handbook 2nd Edition, Im pretty certain those are Hot Dogs attacking the beach LOL).

However, I am very put off by the rule book size and shape. I feel like I am trying to read a music album. I know it has a "retro" feel to it and what not, but is there a smaller, A4 or american publication sized version?

Not a major issue, as with the PDF I could easily make my own sized preference.

This is standard FFG rule book size, unfortunately.

I hear you. Beyond the size issue, the multiple expansion books mean your flipping back and forth. My books are starting to get dogeared.

At some point I hope they compile the books into one compendium.

With the PDFs, you can re-size them and print them on standard sized paper, but the text starts to get hard to read.

Actually, wouldn't Paolo and AEG have started them this size?

Not neccessarily, properly configured, vector based pdf documents can be sacaled to any size, with limited distorsion, and limited degradration of quality (within reason, scaling the document to a 100 feet by 100 feet will obviously blur some images.) Of course they don't post master PDFs for download, as they could theoreticly exceed 1GB in file size for about 10 pages.

Since AEG never really published DT, FFG should have had a lot of felxability in the quality, scale, and materials of the final product.

A compiled master rule book would be nice, maybe will see one after all the planed expansions are released.

AEG did produce the first round of core sets i believe, since their logos were still on stuff in the core set

Hmm, you might be right, but from my experience with Tannhauser, I think the logo may have been retained for legal reasons. But it's just speculation, your theory could be just as likely.

Thanks for remainding us of that, I forgot about those AEG logos.

Mine are immaculate condition still, I don't really need to refer to them at all. People can always just print them to A4 from the pdf's, means you have a 2" top and bottom border, but at least they are not square.

Fortunately you can select, copy and paste the text. I plan to use that to do my own reference book.

Good idea, I didn't think of that.
