Ok...
We played a 7 player game today with Yog as the GOO and the Dark Pharoah expansion cards included. We lost by turn 6 as we didn't get to close gates early on. A Environment card from the expansion came into play that had Mummies in the streets and they were 2 toughness creatures that you had to fight or evade when leaving a street area. We could not get to the gates fast enough since the mummies would stop movement if you fought them and they were either a -2 or -3 awareness to try to sneak past them.
A few things came up.
1. We had 4 gates open and 6 monsters on the board, 1 in the outskirts from prior turns, and 2 in the sky. A monster surge happened. Since there were more players than open gates, we had 7 monsters to allocate to the surge. Terror track was on 2. What is the end result??
One theory we came up with is that you allocated the monsters one at a time and determine if THAT monster made the team hit the MONSTER LIMIT. If it did not, place the monster on an open gate according to the will of the party, and move on to the next one. If that one does not make you hit the MONSTER LIMIT, place it and so on. So here is how it would play out. under that interpretation....
7 monsters to place because of the surge, 6 on the board, 2 in the sky, 1 in the outskirts.
The first monster is placed randomly placed at a gate, monster count is 9,
The second monster is placed randomly and reaches the MONSTER LIMIT, the outskirts monster is returned to the cup, the terror track goes up by 1
The next monster (#3) is played into the outskirts (since there are now 10 monsters in play, it immediately goes in the cup and terror rises by 1)
The next monster (#4) same as last
The next monster (#5) same as last
The next monster (#6) same as last
The next monster (#7) same as last.
So I think the result is 8 monsters on the board, 2 in the sky, none in the outskirts and the terror has jumped from its original value of 2 to 8.
Did we get it wrong??
