gonna play a 4 player game for the first time

By Vrijewandelaar, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

hey all

this monday im playing my very first agot lcg game its gonna be a 4 player game by the looks of it. i have only 1 core set (1 kings of the storm and 1 lords of winter) but ill be playing with only the core cards to keep it fair.

i have read the rules and i have some experience with card games in general (a big WOW fan and deciphers lotr) but im still a bit clueless on how to play the multiplayer version of the game how do i get the bonusses like king of arms or hand of the king master of coin etc etc and one i pick 1 do i have them untill the end ? or can u switch each round ?

and in general any tips for a completely new player playing his first multiplayer game ?

How things go for melee.

1. Setup.

2. Plots

2a. Determine who goes first this round

2b. resolve plots (first player chooses order)

3. Pick titles (hand of the king etc). You will repick these each turn.

4. Draw

i love Melee so ill throw out some random tips i use

- Be smart about picking titles, sometimes its better to pick a title you dont really benefit from (hand of the king, master of whispers) because of who supports you. That way you can dictate who can actually attack you that round, the reverse is also true, if you plan on slapping one opponent around make sure they cant pick a title that won't let you attack them (crown regent, lord commander ).

- don't get out ahead too early, nothing unites a table faster than one opponent steamrolling his way to 15 power. just because you can hit someone up for an unopposed challenger doesn't mean it's always in your best interest to do so

- build for resets, if your playing with 4 people you most likely gonna have to deal with 4 Valars, be aware of it always lurking

- Make people pay for the other half of your Building or Summoning Season, dont give away anything for free, wheel and deal and in the process turn people against each other without being "responsible" for it.

- Identify the threat at the table (hint: it's not you), If person A is the person you want to shut down, let the table know. but not by saying "hey lets get person A," just make observations, talk about how good of a set up he has, how many renown characters he has, how much power he got in 1 turn, be complimentary and your compliments will make the other players aware of how well hes doing.

- Everyones aware of whats going on, so cards that allow for extra power grabs are huge, anyone with renown, make an example, superior claim, the extra unoppossed Melisandre, Rhegal, Fat Bob with king roberts hammer, you want to make your final push an unexpected event.

- Don't feed them after dark, dont let them into sunlight and dont get them wet.

Hope some of it was useful

some of it was yes :D it seems realy fun doing a 4 player game free for all :D :D:D:D

however some of the things u said dont make any sense to me (yet since i have only the core set kings of the storm and lords of winter and i havent read all the cards yet) for the multiplayer titles i will have some more looks in the instructions but thanks for the tip about supporting and apposing titles ( no idea what that means tho yet but it seems important to take into consideration)

i so wish i knew some local players sp that i can play more :D

Where do you play, Voidy?

im from the Netherlands and so far i have had no luck finder local players i tried boardgamegeek but no succes :'( i could try playing it online but its just not the same i like to have the cards in hand and have a real life social interaction with the person im playing with.
if u got any tips on how to find people im up for it i want to play realy bad

however is someone from Fantasy Flight Gamin is reading along i would LOVE an official online game (ipad) or just a browser game

Oh, OK. I was just going to recommend checking the "Metagame" section of these forums, but you probably already have.

I agree with you in regards to playing with real cards and real people. I have played and enjoyed games on Octagon myself, but prefer the social interaction of playing with a real person at a real table with real cards.

I can't recommend anyone in your area since I'm based in MN, but I wish you luck in finding some folks in your area to enjoy this great game.

You might want to try and register over at agotcards.org. They have a very large number of registered users, especially Europeans; might be you find someone there.

yeah i registered there and so far found 1 person from the netherlands :P trying to contact him soon
