So new I'm still waiting for postman to deliver

By Gist Hunter, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Hallo all

As the title says I'm still waiting for postman to delivery my core set -- will probably start picking up expansions from amazon as I go.

However I've got about £200 trade with a company that trades in single cards, are there any cards you need multiples of, sort of resource cards etc, or should I just go for the character cards....

appreciate this is a bit vague, hopefully I'll understand better when I've seen core set

Sorry, just noticed they have some of the Promo cards, are these worth picking up?

If they're selling promo cards, I would hazard a guess that they're primarily selling singles of cards from the CCG era of the game (when it was sold in randomized boosters) rather than the current LCG model (fixed chapter packs). Sadly, the majority of CCG cards are no longer legal for officially sanctioned play. So the question is, how are you planning to play? If you're just sitting around with friends, feel free to pick up CCG cards as the mechanics of play will all still be the same. On the other hand, if you think you might start branching out to meet up with existing players at a store or larger tournaments (GenCon isn't far away! :D ) then I'd suggest making certain that you only get LCG cards. Once you've decided which way you're going with that issue, I'm sure we can help direct you toward some good purchases.

Thanks for the heads up, after doing a little investigation the cards they have seem to be CCG rather than LCG.

Will the CCG cards have an unbalancing impact on the game or do they fit in comfortably.

cheers

Haven't been around in the CCG days, but from what I hear the general power level was a lot higher back then, so I'd expect the CCG cards would have an unbalancing effect on the game, especially if they're rares. As Kennon says, if you wish to interact with the community at large in any way, you should probably stick with LCG cards only. You can spend enough money on those.

Cheers, have asked company I have credit with to source LCG cards rather than CCG cards
