1st Step Toward Podcasting

By Kennon, in CoC General Discussion

Ok, guys, this weekend, I'm going to chat with the other local player to figure out our gameplan for the Cthulhu cast, but I'd like to kick things off with a little audience participation.

Who wants to throw out some quality name suggestions for us to consider?

Journey to Unknown Podcast. :P

The Whisperers in Darkness

Cast of Cthulhu

The Doom that Came to Podcasts

The Cast of Ulthar

The Other Podcast

The Podcast on the Doorstep

Haha, I kind of like "The Doom that Came to Podcasts." That way we can feel free to suck.

Card of Cthulhu

Here is more jibber jabber since the forumwarez says that my post was too short to post.

The Unspeakable Podcast,

where we will discuss that which is unspeakable.

The Podcast Horror

The Podcast Out of Time

Aww you guys have some good ones.

Token submissions:

Good luck.

Magnus, drop me a line at the 2champs1chump (at) gmail (dot) com address (mainly so I can keep podcast related stuff together and not miss it in my general email) and we'll see if we can figure something out. Plus, hopefully we'll decide on a name for the Cthulhu cast soon and then I'll get an address for it.

I'm liking this suggestions guys! Keep em comin'!

Alrighty guys, a name has been chosen. Thank you all for your entries.

I welcome you now to.............. *drumroll please*

The Domain Drain Podcast!

I've already set up an email with domaindrain (at) gmail (dot) com, so feel free to go ahead and contact us with comments and ideas. I'll post here further as we take the next few steps.

This is just great! So now I am getting a podcast not only for Thrones but also for Cthulhu! In the past months those two LCG got a lot of love from the community (cardgamedb.com, agotcards.org, 2 champs & 1 chump podcast...)

So, I'm wondering what kind of content you all would be interested in. Kennon and I have been tossing it back and forth, and we are thinking a similar format to 2C1C. What kind of discussion would you like to hear from us?

I would like a discussion on how the CCG era AP's as a block will effect the game. I would prefer the topic to focus primarily on the power cards that will potentially warp the meta. Since cards will be discussed as a block the analysis can be focused by faction rather than by AP.

I would also like to hear someone say "Sookie" in a southern (United States) accent at least once during the Podcast.

Bwahahahaha. I can sure oblige on the "Sookie" request.

Whew, thats good. I don't think I could've done it!

;)

And discussion about trucker-saurus hands and choking.

Just an update. We've recorded kind of an alpha intro episode about a week and a half ago. We'll be playing more this weekend so that the newbs can get a better feel for things and possibly record a beta half to put together with the intro. Then, we'll be looking to start putting together full blown episodes post GenCon.

Something I'd like to see is asylum pack reviews. For new players, it's hard to know where to start out and how to expand. Some guidance on the best packs to pick up would be a handy thing to have.

Maybe go through each faction and give a breakdown of some of the top asylum packs for fans of that faction?

Or, go through all the Asylum packs and mention some of the more useful cards they contain and which factions they're for?

I think I kind of prefer the first option, I think that's more useful to beginners as it doesn't require as much understanding on their part.

Then, maybe some example deck-building exercises (maybe one Mythos and one Investigator example?) to expose a bit of the thinking of how to put the deck together. What decisions need to be made, how do we evaluate cards based on the overall strategy we're taking, how to decide what to trim, tuning our card costs, that sort of thing.

Ok, just so you guys know, our beta episode is recorded, edited, and should be up before GenCon.

Neat, lookin foreward to it

Very good, just post up the link when it's available. It'll be really great if this help bring additional interest to the game.

That's kinda the idea. We're waiting for everything to get organized and together at CardgameDB. Hopefully you'll have something for your gencon drive. Looking forward to meeting more of the community in Indy!

Just listened to your intro-episode and it seems like this can become a great podcast!

Hope you're planning to release the first real one asap...
