i thought as an idea instead of a brand new core set maybe single faction battle packs. maybe this will be a whole cycle as we have 6 races. Each one could play as its own deck so if one of ur friends bought the core set u could have ur own deck without having to spend the wat is it 400 dollars to get everything. I find one 10 dollar investment to get u started instead of a 40 dollar investment woud rolly seem better off at first. then after they played there deck a little they could buy more expansions to tailor u there deck also these factions pack would hopefully be all new cards so the original fans dont get screwed and lose intrest after 6 months of inacticity
How succesful is Invasion compared to the other LCG's?

no i mean a battle pack that could be used as a deck it would just be pure one race not focusing on one race

The problem with that is, they do want to make some profit. It's cost effective to follow and LCG but if they make it so cost effective that you can basically 'just' pick up deckpacks of your faction of choice, they may end up 1) with underused factions 2) a drop in overall sales.

i was just ssayin though to bring in new players the vets would prolly buy all of them so they could have the complete collection idk u might be right though
One of the big problems that has been mentioned in this thread so far is getting new players involved in the game do to the release of so many expansions so far. I believe what FFG should do to remedy this problem is to simply re-release the core set and large expansions and create "best of" expansions for each of the cycles released so far. By doing this, new players would be able to jump into the game without spending tons of money to do so and have a great pool of cards to choose from as well. I for one would buy this even though I have all of the cards just to have some extra cards.
Both aGoT and WH (and any LCG really) could really use some help from FFG to tell them where to start, especially now that you are looking at a potentially overwhelming # of sets and cards. One of the big plusses for LCG is also a minus - if you want the cards, there is a large amount of product you have to order. Yes, it is cheaper than a CCG, but it is intimidating to see X number of chapter packs and expansions (and as people stated, 3X core set). aGoT's reprints (other than Core) are 3X, so hopefully that is the rule.
**BTW excuse my comparisons to aGoT, but it is an LCG with a limited, fantasy background, designed by the same guy, and I play both having dropped CoC so can't use that very well (and LoTR is co-op)**
1. There needs to be a 'new to the game' tab on both front pages, and a sticky on the forum. In aGoT we get a TON of threads started by new players, and bless those who post the same thing 80 times. AEG does a great job with L5R, you get free cards (Imperial Gift, now on its 3rd version) and it has both a dedicated web page (What House are you!?!) and a dedicated thread.
2. agoT has done this a tad better, but make viable strategies with certain cycles. You could just have the Brotherhood cycle in aGoT at least, and make a pretty darn fun and viable deck. Same (unluckily) with Maesters. Clansmen. Boltons. The list goes on. With my experience in WH there are less (viable) subthemes, so it is harder to make a deck using just Core + set of chapter packs X.
3. Get OP (organized play) going again! SO many people started playing aGoT back in the day due to the Night's Watch. Cool theme decks we used to play against (Wildlings! Spider deck!) and promos (Tyrells). Last year they had one such promotion, and it wasn't bad (the Hand of the King). WH had nothing I know of? At least nothing that caught the eye. Couple that with lackluster themes/support for leagues, and it is tough to see people playing it in a store.
Don't get me wrong, FFG has a tough road. Both properties are not 100% golden, although obviously HBO's series has helped aGoT. They have a TON of other games (they were the 3rd largest booth at GenCon). There is definately a lower return on semi-competative environments in playtesting, OP, support, prizes and the such. But, those things make a long-running game, rather than better profit on the short-term (IMHO of course!).
