New player and House Stark.

By Bayushi Ryuken, in 4. AGoT Deck Construction

What should I be looking at with a Stark deck? I have a limited number of cards,2 core sets,Lords of Winter and a couple of chapter packs.

So far my theory is to use the characters with renown and try and military my way to victory. Is this an effective way of playing the deck? Im playing primarily against Martell and Targaryan who seem to have a similar military prowess to the Starks but with more printed abilitys.

Im running a number of attachments Northen Steel,Ice and the Crown of Winter for strength boosts and extra abilities.

I find im struggling for a good production limiting the number of cards I can bring into play each turn.

Any advice would be great...I know you guys have probably answered this post a hundred times already but id appreciate the help.

You should have enough cards to make several options viable. You could try to focus on the military challenges and run the "Siege of Winterfell" agenda. You could also try to go the direwolf route. You could go armies. Inside the LoW expansion should be an insert with some sample deck ideas. You could use those outright or use them as launching pads for your own deck designs. My personal favorite Stark deck at the moment is focused on Robb Stark and direwolves.

As for resources to play all your cards, you need to be sure you have enough to consistently marshal what you have included in the deck. A rule of thumb I use in most decks (keep in mind this is general advice and some decks may run more or less) is 8-10 cards that provide resources, whether they be reducers such as "Godswood" or cards that just give additional gold.

Hope this helps you a bit.

If you want good Stark deck; look in Europe. In first, focus France forum

Thanks for the help guys...ill post my deck on here for you to tear apart. I dont play in a large group but im hoping we can get some of our local gaming group involved.

An easy way to start would be to pick up the first 2-3 chapter packs of the Oldtown cycle and work them into the Tully Deck shown in the Stark box. In particular replace Riverrun (which doesn't work very often) with Widow's Watch. Ensure that you have duplicates of some of your key characters, and throw in 3x Riders of the Redfork. Also slot in 2x Maester Luwin + At the Gates. You should have a pretty strong deck, and Luwin/Widow's Watch should give you some good card advantage.
