Inquisitor Czevak Black Library Novel

By Lightbringer, in Dark Heresy

This was announced in the latest UK White Dwarf.

Czevak's been a GW metaplot device for 40k for some time. He seems to have a complex relationship with the Eldar, and to spend a lot of his time being chased around by Ahriman, perhaps because he's one of the few humans who knows the location of/has visited/ the actual Black Library, the Eldar's repository of all forbidden knowledge.

It'll be interesting to see how this one pans out, and nice to have another novel series starring a named Inquisitor to add to the Draco, Eisenhorn and Ravenor series'.

There's an excerpt of the novel on the Black Library website currently, a fragment of the first chapter (it seems). Looks to have some interesting ideas in it...

You're right...nice find! A map of the human webway made of pariah flesh...intriguing stuff! happy.gif

Not giving any spoilers. Read it!

Awww man, I thought Czevak was one of the few humans smart enough not to antagonize the Eldar. And he steals from the wardens of the Black Library?

I believe that he steals something that the eldar stole from the IOM from what I've heard. What is good for the goose is good for the gander so too speak.

It's not stealing if someone carries it into your house. SPOILERS

It seemingly was made by a bunch of Custodes, Sisters of Silence and Techpriests who build an access to the Eldar webway and were cut off from Terra (I guess when Magnus warned the Emperor of Horus' betrayal). And it is seemingly a map of the webway, would you like to have a monkey who got already captured by Ahriman once already have the plans to a place where you can learn to ascend to chaos godhood?

I wonder if the Harlequins will be the n-th seemingly awesome faction reduced to near-comedic incompetence. Seriously, weren't they supposed to keep Czevak seemingly under key? And now he steals a precious relic from the BL and escapes with it through the webway - from the group that is arguably the most skilled in traversing the webway. I mean, I realize he may have PC powers, but it's a bit jarring.

It could be made interesting if the whole thing was actually a ploy to make Czevak the "mule" of something that should get to someone through trusted channels. Maybe a present for Ahriman, who is sure to zoom in to the Inquisitor quite soon and would spare no effort to capture him again?

Maybe the Harlequins have given Czevak this map thing so Ahriman can steal it off him and spend all his time messing around in the abandoned human webway as opposed to the Eldar one?

The problem with that is that Czevak knows where the Black Library is. So he's actually the worst person available to deliver a false location to Ahriman. In case of getting lost, break Czevak......

Of course it is the most advance species around. partido_risa.gif Despite this it is still grimdark.
