Stealth and LoW Catelyn Stark

By MrPrastastic, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

Having a bit of trouble getting the timing of Cat Stark's ability, was wondering if someone could help. It also leads to a possible second question. The timing on challenges as I understand it is as follows (just the part relevant to this question):

Active player declares challenge

Active Player kneels attackers

---PLAYER ACTIONS 1---

Active Player chooses stealth targets

Defending Player kneels defending characters

---PLAYER ACTIONS 2---

Determine winner

When does Catelyn come in, first window or second (or either)? If it's the first, it means I can then declare her as a Stealth target, in which case what actually happens to her (does she stay kneeling, go back to hand, something else). If it's the second window, can I declare her as a stealth target if I suspect she's going to come out even though she's not there?

I'm asking since we got into this annoying loop in a game against a friend, he had one card in hand (Cat), I declared INT challenge, he played her so it wasn't unopposed, lost the challenge but had no cards left to discard, got her back at the end of the phase, and by next challenges only had her left again (managed to play the other two each time)...

Either. If she comes in on the first window and is targeted by stealth, nothing happens (except for the effects of cards like Poisoned Knife or Lost Oasis). If she comes out in the second window, it is too late for you to choose her as a target for stealth.

Oh and you cannot choose a character not in play as a target for stealth.

Cheers, figured that was the case. Was just hoping it wasn't... seriously annoying situation.

Might I recommend attacking INT with a deadly character first. That way, Cat will be dead or discarded.
