Answers to recent questions

By Musha Shukou, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

I recently asked some questions to the Rules Questions link on these forums and got some answers from Kevin Wilson. And after reading some of the recent posts, these seem pretty relevant to post here.

Q. The text on the Bank Loan card reads, "On a 1-3, pay $1 or discard all of your items along with this card." Is this a choice? Are you able to choose whether you pay the $1 or discard all of your items? If I had money to pay but rolled a 1-3, could I choose not to pay $1, but instead, discard all of my items? Or is it, pay $1 and if you are unable to pay $1, discard all of your items?

A. It's your option whether to pay or not.

Q. A blue Other World encounter from the base game that occurs in the "Other" location reads as follows: "You've completed your task, but now you must escape before the portal closes! Pass a Speed (-2) check to return to Arkham. If you fail, you are lost in time and space. In either event, you automatically close the gate you entered through." The card doesn't specify, but you can still take the gate as a trophy, correct? Also, in situations like this, can you still spend the 5 clue tokens or an Elder Sign to seal the gate?

A. Yes, you still get it as a trophy, and yes, you can still seal it if you have the means.

I must say, neither of these answers are what I was expecting.

Ok, this answer will completely KILL all that what was said until now about this encounter. Maybe you should write this answers in the thread "Official answers by Kevin Wilson"

Yes... It does contradict other rulings... Guh. Well, if he said it he said it. I hope he wasn't wasted when he said it ;'D Kevin Wilson Fundamentalism.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT?

Basketfuls of type have been spent on resolving this question in these forums before being FINALLY laid to rest and one forum post sweeps all that AWAY?

I personally asked this question myself with the context of what happens if you are lost in time and space, and therefore NOT at the gate location.

No sir I don't like it. enfadado.gif

I'm going to go with the "wasted" explanation and won't recant until I have a notarized copy of this ruling in signed in triplicate in the presence of a convent of nuns as witnesses!

Yeah... I'd be kind of inclined to wait for the final FAQ publication too... "Final."

Which is supposed to happen when, by the way? Also, does anybody know how extensive they will be?

That is another question you should ask FFG ;'D

lmao :D

I must say, I am a bit relieved. Having to remember a convoluted set of conditions as to whether or not you can seal was bothering me. This is simpler. Simpler is almost always better.

Hmm, the current overall win rate is 62.62%. So how's this for a simpler Arkham Horror:

Roll nine dice. If you get three or more successes, then you win.

Turns out you should win about 62.28% of the time - not a perfect match, but hey, you're saving lots of time. happy.gif

Add +1 to each die result if you have Patrice lengua.gif ? Roll only 5 dice if one of the investigators is Vincent Lee gran_risa.gif .
