Picked Up the Revised Dark Pharaoh Expansion

I'll confirm that the game is out in places, as I also have my copy.

Another thing that was changed were the draw X monsters from the cup and put them on locations mythos cards. Originally, I think there was one for the asylum streets with 3 maniacs and one with 2 ghosts in the Miskatonic streets. Now, those cards have been changed to headline events that make everyone in the streets make a Fight (-1) or Will (-1) check respectively, or take stamina/sanity damage. People who have 2+ successes get an Exhibit Item. Also, the clothing drive was slightly revamped, and has the 'Mummy' stats directly printed on the card.

The dual color gate encounters are still in there as well. The benifit/detriments were slightly revamped. PI lets you un-delay another investigator rather than ignore the barred mechanic, which doesn't exist anymore. Harried now moves a monster to your location every turn on a failed skill check and goes away when you kill a monster with toughness 2 or higher. Visions gives another Investigator +1 Focus. Local Guide gives -1 Focus and goes away when you get $10. Tainted only makes you roll twice for curses and goes away when you are blessed. Wanted makes you spend $1 or lower your speed completely every turn before adjustments and goes away when you make a seal. Psychic and annointed are the same. The allies have all been reworked and give less bonuses than before. Most of them have been changed from a +2/+2 on various combat checks to +1/+1 on the regular skill checks. Some have just had one of the +2s removed. The Messenger has totally been reworked. You'll have to find out him for yourself...

im not happy with the fact that i need to search all those cards from the old version to replace them with the revised ones... but for arkham i'll do it, its worth it.

The expansions is now listed as In Stores so I guess they just forgot to update it.

I'm happy they changed the masks, they kinda wonky. Now the only thing for me is to wait for the German version (stupid translation takes too long).

Plus, it drives the price up. But we in the non-english countries are doomed either way: we either pay for delivery costs or for the translated game. Although if I had known bookdepository didn't sell only books but also board games, I would have definitely started collecting Arkham in English.

I'm definitely getting this expansion, sooner or later. Not much of a problem for me, since I don't have the old version :P

Not really, at least if you know where to buy them. I haven't paid more than $20/14€ for each of the small box expansions, and I have all of them (save for the revised pharaoh). And deciding upon a language version is pretty much dependent on the people you play with, sadly playing with young German academics forces you to choose the German version because they don't speak English (at least not on the level required to enjoy AH or Lovecrafts work).

And I will probably leave certain elements of the old box inside my collection (like simple items etc.)

I just realized.

America is home to:
Microsoft and Mac.
Fantasy Flight Games and Wizards of the Coast.
Privateer Press and Wyrd Games.
Blizzard Entertainment.
Hollywood.

Europe has some catching up to do. Not trashing at all. Motivating if anything.

Thank heavens, that's a **** sight easier.

Hmm. I'll probably give the PI both cards - blocking Barred From Neighbourhood is hardly game breaking and I'm going to be playing with both encounter sets anyway. Visions goes new, same with Local Guide. (Here is the Bank, just let me get out a loan and immediately repay it and... oh, you've gone!) Tainted goes new style. I prefer the old Wanted card, so I'll stick with that. I'll go with the new Harried though.

Reworked Allies - they'll probably all go in - the old ones were broken. Do they still grant the same side-benefits? I might have wait and see on the Messenger. He is Nyarly, so he deserves to be well-hard.

Europe is / was home to...

  • The Babbage Engine
  • Settlers of Catan, Ticket to Ride, Talisman and Dungeonquest.
  • Rockstar (Grand Theft Auto)
  • The Beatles, Mozart, Beethoven, Shakespeare, Chaucer, Tolkien, Chekov, Cervantes, Moliere, Da Vinci, Rubens, Matisse, Van Gogh and Prokofiev
  • Alfred Hitchcock, Michael Caine, Gerard Depardieu and Luc Besson

I think we're doing fine thanks.

Now known as "Güdweiser", heh.

(.. I kid, I just thought that was quite clever of me)

Don't be too quick to downplay American beers. American micro brews are amazing. Ever had anything by Stone or Dogfishhead?

It's that commercial crap that's the embarrassment.

And all that commercial crap is owned, fully or partially, by non-American companies.

Yes, but European micro-brewers are amazier ;)

Apart from the jokes, people tell me (I've never been in America) that the beer you drink is served way too cold. I bet the micro-breweries know how to serve their product, though.

::Laughter:: I'm not really sure if we should be going there either ;'D

Theoretically speaking, a common belief is that the roots of our species are to be found neither in Europe nor in America, but anyway... go on, this thing sounds completely crazy. I'm wondering how you'd link ***** size to the "revised" Dark Pharaoh...

Crawling Chaos, indeed...

LMAO at those comments.

I just wanted to see the reaction the Arkham community would provide me.

So I have come to the conclusion that beer>cthulhu. demonio.gif

Back to the topic. Man I wasn't expecting that at all. Reminds me of the movie, Canadian Bacon.

Edit: Now I have to wonder how old is everyone here. Avi is facepalming, Julia is preocupado.gif ...intrigued, and we are talking about beer.

I mean I picture the world ending, you guys in an intense moment, me walking into a bar saying my things...and suddenly the world ending is the least of the worries. lol. "You will have to wait Mr. Old God, we have an issue at hand". *Cthulhu grabs a tankard of ale and waits...amused*

The only way to make Budweiser and it's ilk palatable are to server it way too cold. If it's anything near proper temp people would be able to actually taste it! But yeah most decent establishments will serve beer at or around a good temperature.

Belgium and England are my favorites.

I am old enough to know that those sorts of discussions are a bad idea ;')

...

**** it, now I am hungry for bacon.
