I played my second game solo with two investigators to try and get the rules down before playing with more folks. I had the Drifter and the wizard Drake against Hastur.
The third turn into the game I drew the Mythos Rumor card The Terrible Experiment (5 monsters, add 1 each turn till 8 then 10 Terror) and got Drake lost in time and space (failed check in Other worlds) and had the pesky Hounds chasing me all over so I knew I was in trouble. I ended up spending much of the game fending off the Rumor card and dodging flying cultists on the streets until 8 gates opened and the final battle commenced.
Clarification 1: After a bit, I ended up drawing the Mythos Environment card Happy Days are Here Again which states that the Terror level cannot increase. Does this card overrule the Fail consequence on the Rumor card or does the Rumor card trump the Happy Days card?
Clarification 2 : During the final battle, Drake used the Powder of Ibn-Ghaze Magical Weapon, +9 to Combat Checks (Lose 1 Sanity and discard after use.) I used the card and kept it in play for the entire Ancient One battle. Based on the answer thread, I think the card should only have been used in one round of the battle since it would be discarded before the refresh stage of the second round of combat....correct?
Clarification 3 : During the mythos phase, clues do not get placed where there is already a gate present. What happens when a gate opens on a place that has clues already on it? I saw in one thread that you pick up the clue, but haven't found that reference in any FAQ or rulebook. What happens to the clue that was there before a gate opened?
