Another thread about the Core Sets

By Phloyd456, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

I'm new to this so sorry if you've heard this asked before. I've been looking into this game for the last month and when I first looked at the Core Sets online, the descriptions said that there were 200 cards in the set or 4 decks of 52 cards. Now when I look at them online, in the description that there 240 cards in the set. My question is did they add more duplicates to the reprint (kinda like they are doing with the Princes of the Sun expansion) of this set? I wanna know so that I can go out and buy the more recent print. I saw it at Borders the other day and I looked on the box and it said 4 decks of 52 so I'm wondering if that was an "older" set. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Where did you see that?

I saw this @ ccgarmory. com. Other sites have listed this as well as one of my local retailers.

I will tell you from personal experience do not do business with CCGarmory.

Why what happened with them? Anyone else have a problem?

Their website is often wrong about what is in stock and what isn't. They will still charge you for your full order then inform you at a later date that some of the items you wanted were not in stock, and take AGES to get you an actual refund. They also will lie to you about the shipping. They will print the shipping label online and then let it sit at wherever they are located (and they list several different addresses) for days to weeks. When you email to ask about your package they will tell you it's already been shipped, however it has NOT. Then when they do finally ship it, they will tell you the last shipment was "lost" by the post office.

Just google search CCGarmory problems and you'll see what I mean, or check out this thread: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/447957/opinions-wanted-on-ccg-armory-are-they-reliable

They have good prices, but that's about it, I would avoid them like the plague.

Well thanks for the heads up. I was planning on spending a lot of money there since they have such good prices. Besides that anyone have a answer to my question about the Core Set?

I think there are 200 different cards in the set. With dupes, it could easily reach 240 cards. As far as I'm aware, they haven't changed anything in the core set.

There are 4 decks of 52 cards each (45 card draw decks & 7 card plot decks) in a Core Set, plus 6 House cards and 6 multiplayer Title cards. All in all, there are 200 individual, distinct cards in the set.

If the 240 isn't a typo (from the 220 of the original printing), there are apparently 20 extra cards in the reprinted Core Set - which are probably copies of some of the key resources - that were not clearly advertised.

I've actually been wondering what the reprinted Core Set has looked like because we've had some people say "that isn't in the rules anywhere" to things that are stated outright in the original Core Set rules that are posted online.

I was living in the Washington, DC area at the time though, and it may really depend on where you live, or even who happens to fill out your order. As with a lot of discount vendors, mistakes can happen.

Other than CCGarmory, I believe there are discount vendors that have similar prices. I forget right off hand who they are. Actually, if you're looking to get a bunch of things all at once, I'd also try checking the Trade Forum on these threads for deals from people trading/selling their collections.

You can also get them from ebay sellers (I use Lotusvault myself), there's also Thoughthammer and a few other well known retailers.

+1 for miniaturemarket. Good prices and shipping to me has always been really quick.

Awesome. Thanks for letting me know. I will definitely be trying those sites when I am ready to start buying the sets.

i will throw in another good word for thoughthammer.com

Miniature market is who I use all the time for LCG, board games, AT-43, Hordes and Warmachine, great prices and really good customer service too.
