When I was a little child I loved playing playmobil. I got some cowboys fighting my friend's indians:
Pauw pauw, you are dead. No my friend, you missed because you are too far away. But now my indian hero runs up to you and takes your scalp, you will be stunned. No no, I shot a second time. Pauw, pauw. I dodged your attack and will use my bow. Your arrow get stuck in my sheriff-star-armor. Pauw, pauw. Killed in a trap. No, yes. Come back to life. Pauw, pauw. And so on.......
Now 30 years later I play descent: The big playground has been replaced by a smaller map, the highly flexible home-made rules by a dictated rulebook and the big box with a great range of movable plastic components by about a 100 rigid figures. In fact the only difference is the 12 dice!
Oké, it has been a fall back, but now I am playing an truly adult game. And this big child really loves it!
