OCTGN help needed

By lahomen, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

This post is for anyone who is good at technology and wants to help out.

I have OCTGN downloaded, and Wippien.

With Person A I am able to host games, and join games.

With Person B I am able to join games, but not host them (he can't join).

With Person C I am not able to join games or host them.

However, Person C is able to join games hosted by Person A.

What the heck? Anyone with any idea what I need to do, please email me: lahomen(at)gmail.com , or post here. PLEASE.

What OS you running?

Do all the other players use IPv6 or does one of them only have IPv4?

My guess would be that person A has properly set up port forwarding on their router and person C has not.

Running Windows 7. All scenarios involve using Ip4. What is the difference or advantage of using IP6?

What is the point of the whole port-forwarding thing, and why does it make a difference?

I've read some random articles online to try and understand these things, but I'm just not a tech-saavy person.

Well, you should try IPv6 if the others don't work, basically if you have a *green* IPv6 address it's a "tunnel" that will bypass your router's firewall to allow the other person to directly communicate with your computer. Port forwarding basically tells your router that all traffic on a specific port (in this case port 8088 or w/e the default is) is supposed to go to a specific computer, and it should be allowed through the firewall as well.

Some people faced issue with Windows Firewall so I always suggest to disable it.
