Lunatics

By John the Cultist, in CoC Rules Discussion

Hey guys,

Longtime lurker, first time poster. I have a question about lunatics. What do you need to do to "drive insane?" Is it

1) An action similar to exhausting the character, but instead of exhausting, the character goes insane, and the effect triggers.

2) You need to play a card or use a character effect to drive the lunatic insane, triggering their effect.

I've looked all over for a definite answer, but have yet to find one.

Thanks guys.

John

Those characters who have "Drive X insane to..." allow you to make that character insane as an action.

As an added question, can you drive an exhausted character insane to pay a cost similar to one the Prof just mentioned? I thought you could, but there was discussion about it one time.

Only if it has that ability. So one of the Lunatics, even if exhausted, could go insane in order to do whatever ability it has.

Awesome. It makes a lot more sense since you pointed out the "action" part of the card.

Thank you for pointing that out!
