I seem to remember reading that if there is more than one leader in an encounter and the heroes kill both, they get the Leader conquest tokens for each. Does that go for dungeon levels, too, including the last one? Tonight we had The Crypt, which has three leaders, as the third dungeon level. Since it was the last level, the heroes got 4 conquest, but since there were the three leaders, the heroes got a total of 12 conquest from killing all three! Can that be right??
RtL: Multiple leaders and conquest
Hi,
yes, that is correct. From the FAQ:
"Q: If a level has multiple leaders, do the heroes get the
conquest and coin reward for killing each leader?
A: Yes."
And since it is the last dungeon level, CTs are doubled, yes. 12 CTs, ouch...

However, I've house ruled it that only the last leader on the last level is worth 4VP. I know this isnt what is printed exactly in the rules, but it seems a little wrong for the heroes to gain 12XP on a level instead of 4XP, especially when some of the ones with multiple leaders are not much more difficult

Some are though.
With a competent OL the Crypt should be very tough. All three leaders get +2 range and +2 damage if they stay on the Crypts (and two are ranged/magic so can) They are also -1range/damage for the heroes while they stay on the Crypts. IIRC they all get undying as well? And possibly some Knockback thing that can take heroes out of action for a turn? This is also one of the toughest levels to prevent spawning on and the 'goodies' (Treasure and one of the Glyphs) are in a difficult place to get to and isolated in a way that invites spawning.
I consider the Crypt to be one of the toughest levels. So is the level with the Hellhound, Dragon and Demon leaders.
I agree that they are probably more difficult (taking back what I said earlier)
I think what I meant to say was....
Yes, they are more difficult, which is why they are worth 6XP each, instead of 2XP.
I think my point was that just because the level is the last level doesnt make it that much more difficult, and I think it should be worth 8XP total, rather than 12XP. Just like a normal last level is worth 4XP instead of 2XP.
I can see it both ways, I've just chosen this one.
Paul - were your players happy with your house rule? Just curious. We have discussions in our group all the time about various aspects of the game and I have been Overlord & player so can see both points of view.
Ssshhh, dont speak too loud, they may hear you!
Our first campaign has been a bit odd. From week 2, the heroes got a potentially broken combo of skills, equipment and characters and have been walking the campaign so far. Like nearly twice the XP as the overlord at Copper stage, which according to most reports is the opposite of how it should go.
That combined with me failing to raze a city until week 17 due to constant failed rolls has meant that I've pretty much written off the campaign.
Next one (if we bother doing another one because everything is so imbalanced), I'm going to be making lots of changes.
So, I figured this one, at this stage wouldnt have made much difference.
