Seelowe building blog by Blkdymnd

I have started some 3d building frames for the Seelowe building tile. this is my first WIP shot. The wall sections will be one layer higher. This ismjust a simple project for the most part, and will be painted in grey tones to blend in with the tile colors..

I've been contemplating starting these for a while now, the problem is that you need a lot of them for Seelow which will be time consuming and take up a lot of storage space. What are your bricks made of and how high will they go do you think?

the blocks i found at Michaels by chance. 1" x 1/2" foam blocks, 300 for $15. I plan to go about 4 high on the wall sections. I may switch out and plaster some Hirst Arts bricks instead to make it stronger down the road. transport will be the only issue i can see encountering.

hirst art blocks are great, heres some stuff ive done with em. 25755_1258534979627_1117214470_30575748_ 24795_1264922379308_1117214470_30586679_

right now though im too lazy and so im useing galeforce 9's ruins buildings based to the grid. will post a couple pics this weekend.

awesome! what was your casting material?

DAP plaster of paris. sealed with two coats of watered down wood glue, then painted and sealed with matt. holds up pretty well. cheap.

So Sgt G and I came up with the idea of lego walls covered with Plastruct textured sheets. Seems cheap enough as well and durable for sure. And i found a cool european style rock wall sheet.

that actually works very well, i did it for 40k but have no pics. i dont know their dimensions and there may be some issue with fitting them onto the grid but i say give it a try. looking forward to results.

I upgraded my buildings now that I got the prototype out of the way in the foam blocks. Here is my new ones with Hirst Arts blocks. This is still WIP, I plan on going 3 blocks high, thats well over the infantry models heads and obscures a good portion of a walker. Takes quite a bit of plaster to get just this one 2 X 2 building done, glad I decided on plaster of paris as my medium.

hey I like that wall idea.. I have the same mold and I was using them for making square bases for models, but I ended up not liking the look but I just might steal your wall idea :)

Finally just said screw it and went an easier, faster route...
