Overlord... question

By Auskaa, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

yeah.. i have question... since in every dung turn overlord gets threat....

does he can .. in the end of dungeon use all of them as exp.

like 1 threat every hero... and in much alter it piles up when discarding cards??????? seems like brutal for me...

Are you playing the base game or an advanced expansion like Road to Legend? It's a bit hard to tell.

Yes, the overlord can save up his threat throughout the dungeon and blow it all at the end if he wants. In practice, this is probably not a wise course of action since once the heroes have gold weapons it's generally just a matter of time before they win. But it's legal. A wiser course would be to try and hit the heroes early, when they still have town gear or copper items, and whittle them down so they don't have much conquest left to lose near the end.

If you're talking about the advanced campaign (by refering to "exp") the Overlord does not convert Threat into XP. He converts Conquest into XP, and he only earns Conquest by killing heroes, cycling the deck, and from taking turns/razing cities on the overland map. There are probably a couple of other ways for him to get CT, but they're not so common.

In general, the Overlord has an easier time learning his side of the game, so it can seem like he's more powerful when you first start playing, but that's only because the heroes have a harder learning curve. Give it time. And play the base game while you're learning, it's easier to recover from mistakes if you start a fresh game each session.

yeah i was wondering about that.... then my plan in killing heroes is working great at this moment.

sometimes easier to ask then try to look from like the RTL rulebook.

thanks alot.
