Gencon Gaming Space and Registration for Thrones events

By Dobbler, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Event CGM1122470: John Deatrick does not have a badge for when event starts, or their badge does not provide them access to it.

Im not sure how to pre-reg for it. I didn't get a pre-reg for gen con.

Nevermind, I figured it out. When you said I don't have to have pre-regged to register for events, that didn't mean I didn't have to sign up for a will-call badge.

Good to go, and +1 for the Melee and Joust.

We're up to 54 for joust and 43 for melee.

I am so close to getting another two to come with me but now all this chat about stuff getting band before GenCon is giving them cold feet, since they have a very limited card pool to build decks from. Its kind of funny sad. …Lol

If thats the only thing holding them back, tell them there will be plenty of people there to lend them cards.

That’s their current excuse yes. Once I got their wifes to say yes to the trip they where almost totally in then they read the boards today (funny enough a post I started) and got discouraged. As it stands they are 50/50 now. In truth it not just the cards but the idea of learning new dekcs. They are casual player who are most excited about the mellee game so learning new decks puts them off a bit…

I think it would be fun either way and I will mention to them that there is a good chance people would lend them the cards they needed to finish their decks. Maybe that will bring them around.

I think its an advantage running a limited card pool. How often do you see someone run Secret Hideout?

Unless you own exactly 60 cards, you'll never have *that* limited a card pool.

If they don't know the decks very well, I would think that overpowered stuff getting banned could only be good for them. Just check that their decks are legal for them before the tournament starts.

I got another yes...woot now their are three of us Canadians flying down. ;)

On a side note i was wondering do people just play a fun deck for the warm up tourny or do theu use the same deck they are gone use in the Joust a few days later?

I usually play a fun deck. In fact, I'm going to play such a fun deck this year, that I'm going to play in the CoC Warm Up instead. :P

Only chumps play in CoC instead of AGot.

But thanks for the info i will make sure to bring a fun deck to that tourny then....

Currently 59 registered for Joust championships and 47 for Melee championships

There are now 64 preregistered for the Joust championships and 52 preregistered for the Melee Championships...Woot!

I manage to get a two players from Canada coming and they have registered for the events now. Both have only played the game at most 12 times so all of you be nice to us Canadians and remeber some of us are still learning. ;)

I know its crazy new players coming to the worlds just for fun....

Hey, I'm not going to argue with new players coming to GenCon for the first time.

From my experience, every time I go to a convention or tournament, I learn something new.

Kublacon 2010: Well, I was brand new. Give me a break. I learned you need to run a reset (I didnt have valar at the time). You should run refugees, carrion birds, etc. Also, Taste for blood dominated me.

Calicon 2010: WTF north agendas... I mean really? START running burning on the sands. Thanks to Ryan for stealing my viper and winning on the 2nd challenge of turn 2.

Kublacon 2011: Card draw wins games. THE END.

These might seem like simple things, but I was not in a competitive play group, so I didn't catch auto includes like these based on playing people.

Didn't want to create a new thread just for this, so I'm posting this here, because this seems the closest thing we have to a general Gencon thread right now.

With Gencon very close, I just wanted to convey my best wishes to everyone going. Have a ton of fun y'all, and may you never forget to trigger your responses. I won't be following the tourney online, because I got married yesterday, and I'll be on honeymoon these next two weeks, and I'm not taking the computer. So I won't know the results and won't be able to congratulate the winners until way after the event, but I'll be thinking of you (maybe) when I'm on top of some mountain looking down.

Be nice to my man Ulrich when you meet him, and if he plays like crap I'm sure the jetlag's to blame ;-)

BTW, Ulrich, not to put any pressure on you, but if you shame the Munich meta we'll drown you in a barrel of beer.

Gratz on the wedding, ser!
