We have just completed several games in the 29th infantry campaign. The last weather ckeck at turn 8, which affects the last 4 turns, if you draw a thunderstorm or heavy rain, will last 4 turns to the end of the game. The ONE card will always doom the Americans to failure. If you draw that card on turn 8 as Americans, concede the game and save yourself a lot of frustration. While I do not disagree with the affects of those two cards, I do stongly disagree with the last weather check being turn 8. There should be a chance to change the weather on turn 10. Weather is checked every two turns, why not on turn 10?????? That is a game killer. It will be a cold day in hades before we play with weather again. This is the opinion of 6 avid players. We believe that the weather addition was not well thought and seems to have been thrown in at the last just to have something different. Why not just roll a dice at the start of a scenario, 1,2 or 3 Americans loose, 4,5 or 6 Americans win. Think of how many scenarios you can get through in a day. For your information the two game killer cards came up 9 times out of 10 on turn 8

I only have the base game. It that one of the weather cards? I had always heard that the weather in Hades was quite balmy.
I'm not sure I agree about the weather component. Based on your description I'm assuming you're talking about the final scenario (the only one that is 12 rounds long and uses the weather deck). Given the cards you mention I wonder if you are using the deck wrong. There should only be 8 cards in it and only 2 of them are heavy rain (no thunderstorms). I suppose that's roughly a 50:50 shot at drawing it on 4 draws. To draw it 9 out of 10 times on the 4th draw seems a bit peculiar, though with each successive draw that doesn't result in heavy rain your odds go up in getting it. If it really bugs you that much though I'd make a house rule change on the scenario and replace one of the heavy rain cards with a clear one.
If i am right when you draw another weather card, you shuffle them all before(including the one that was currently in effect).
That is correct, all weather cards are shuffled back into the deck before the next weather card is drawn. The odds are the same for each weather check.
We were playing the 29th infantry campaign. Scenario 2 BATTLE IN THE BOCAGE weather is checked on turns 3,5, 7 , 9, and 11. The game is 15 turns. The deck consists of 3 clear, 3 light rain, 2 heavy rain and 1 thunderstorm. Operationally the last 3 have the same effects. So there is a 33% chance to stop the Americans, dead in their tracks, as they are the side that is attacking, they are more affected by vaslty reduced movement.
The last of the 4 scenarios is Piercing The Siegfried Line. the game is 12 turns long. Weather is checked on turns 2,4,6 and 8, the deck consists of 3 clear, 3 light rain and 2 heavy rain. This equates to a 36% chance to slow the advance and a 25% chance to practically stop the advance.
Consider that even at point blank range in Hvy rain and thunderstorms you need 6 to hit. The Germans are in protective cover and need 5 or 6 to save.
Also consider that the last weather check will affect the last 4 turns. That is the last 33% of scenario 4 and 27% of scenario 2
We tell ourselves the odds will turn. Well not usually. Case in point
roll 12 dice by odds you should get 2 of each number, When have you ever seen that happen????
I have a gamer friend that will usually roll three 5s or 6s with 4 dice, six 5s or 6s with 10 dice and if he is firing his panther at you , he will hit your tank 8 to 10 times , every time with 14 dice.
I have another gamer friend that cannot roll a save, even if his own life depended on being able to do so.
Last point, the weather deck is reshuffled with all cards for the weather check, so its not like you can work out of the bad weather.
My bad on the odds of the weather deck, I had forgotten about the reshuffle. Clearly I haven't played enough Normandy yet to really get stuff burned in. Still, all that being said, if your group feels it comes up too often and makes the scenerio un-fun then tweak it by pulling one of them out or replacing it with a clear skies.
I just recently played the battle in the bocage scenario(as the Germans) and i was hoping for some heavy rain on turn 11 to help me... unfortunately it did not come, so i lost, again... lol!
