when assaulting does a squad need to roll 4 or 6, when the thunderstorm card is in play?

While the effect of the card is that attacks at close or normal range are concidered long range, IMO it does not change the assault. The wording of the assault when determining hits says that "As with close-range attacks, every 4, 5, and 6 result is considered a success." It is not saying that the attack is a "close" range attack, just that it resolves like one.
