Anyone know who we need to talk to about 'Sanctioned Tournaments'?
We are looking to put an event on in August and casting the net wide so we think it may well be worth getting some 'official' status for it.

Apart from contacting FFG to get a prize kit, if you want one, I don't believe you need to contact anybody special. Looking forward to hearing more about it though!
Where are you thinking of having the tournament? joust or melee?
Not sure what the best option is at the moment. Our Melee can go on for hours so Joust is probably the best option. Unless there is a method of time limitation.

I don't have any tourney experience, but my understanding is that there is a time limit on each game (I think it's usually like 45-60 minutes for joust, 60-75 minutes for melee?). If no player reaches the win condition within that limit, the player closest to victory gains a modified win. For more details on scoring have a look at the Tournament Rules available here on the website.
Hello,
We would be glad that London held a big tournament, we have several players in France that want to come for a week end to one of the most amazing town in Europe since there are many easy jets lines opened, it is now easy to visit England.
We would also be very happy to help you organize tournaments, we have players that are seasoned in organizing them, do you have someone that want to organize them in UK ? What is his mail ?
Hope to meet you soon.

Actually, with one obvious exception, we're pretty disorganised and junior with the game here in London.
Having international guests would be absolutely fantastic though.
Let us have a chat about possible venues/dates this weekend (our next meetup) and hopefully we can get some possible dates figured out.
Please keep us updated!
Some friend and I are looking run 'official' events in the North of England and we may be interested in travelling down occasionally (with our army of Dire Wolves) to show the Southerners how to scrap for power, and to maybe pick up a few tricks to take home
I'm personally very interested in Melee tournaments, which are the sort we'll be looking to run up here. The official playtime for melee is supposed to be 105 minutes, but this can be adjusted up or down 15 minutes at the TO's discretion. You shouldn't need to worry about finishing the rounds in that time. First of all, when people are playing competetively there's generally less banter and side-talk and more planning ahead and being conscious about how long your own turn is lasting. The main problem here would be newcomers to the game jumping straight into the melee and slowing things up. A terrible conundrum, as we all want people into the hobby but we also want our games to run smoothly
Also, if you do find that your time runs short, then the game freezes when the TO anounced time and whoever has the most power at that point wins the table.
Jousting is alright and the game format holds up well against other games, but the melee format is the one true advantage and unique aspect that the Game of Thrones LCG has over all other similar games, and is a major appeal for many fans!
FFG already have a recommended tournament structure available for download, and it's pretty good.

Doh!
Yep. In all of the cheaty Lannister excitement, I totally forgot to be responsible and to talk about potential dates with people.
Tell you what: If people let me know what sort of dates would work for them (i.e. what months of the year, vaguely... obviously not November) then I'll make it my business to get in touch with the manager of a local game store (that I know organises regular Magic The Gathering tournaments) and see if he can point me in the right direction for setting this gig up (venues, etc).
All my group would definately be interested in a UK tournament of any format.
Yup, would be up for a UK tourney
I'd like to say that, if the tourney's in London and the date is known far enough in advance, then it is entirely possible that I might come from southern Germany.
Would be well up for joining in the UK tournament scene. Here in Teesside we've grown a pretty strong community of players who are all looking to have a go at some competitive play.
We'll be running a Melee tournament in Unearthed Games in October (dates and details to be confirmed) if anyone here is interested PM me or nitro pirate or check out the face book page for Unearthed Games. We should be able to accommodate for between 30 and 40 players.
