Did the core set sell out in less than a week? Wasnt it just back in the "in stores now!" section a few days ago? I live in Ireland and in the last 2 months my local hobby shop has not recieved any Core Sets, Kings of the Sea, Lords of Winter, Forging the Chain or Called by the Conclave expansions. (obviously some of these havnt been around for 2 months but you get my point) is there something wrong with providing internationally or is everything just being sold out supper fast?! o.O
What is HAPPENING?! (Re: Reprints)
i guess international distributors have pre-order. heidelberger/gemany got some and i was able to buy a few for my shop. but they have been sold quickly and now i am also waiting for the next reprint.
i just hope that whwen the series starts here in german TVs there will be plenty of Coresets available. would be a shame to lose players only because of missing the nick of time.
Our store bought 12 Core sets prior to our regional weekend. All 12 were gone before the following Tuesday.
I have a feeling FFG needs to start ordering larger print runs.
FFG learns very slowly.
Or they are very conservative in the numbers they are ordering prints. There is an upper cap to what you could order for a print run and not be sitting on product taking up valuable and expensive space in their warehouse. Being able to look at the numbers being sold over a span of time is the only adequate way to predict your future sales and the speed of them. Just because a print run sold 15% faster than the last six does not mean the next one will sell 15%. It sounds like this last print run sold much faster than the previous one did, and that one did faster than the one before it. I think this may be their third one this year... This is what we would call a volatile market. This increased demand may continue to grow, or stabilize, or completely drop off.

I think it is safe to say that with the popularity of the show and the increased public awareness of the product that sales will continue being volatile in a positive way for a while. How long? Who knows. But the with Core set being the jumping on point for the Game of Thrones LCG, it behooves FFG to make sure it is ALWAYS available.
Well obviously... with the exception of having a constant presence in their own warehouse in numbers that prevent them from keeping the stock of their other titles. I expect the answer is not so much much larger orders so much as altering the reprint schedule requirements. If they have been waiting until they get down to X copies in warehouse they may need to change that to Y since that X is going much faster.
I think FFG has really dropped the ball here for both the LCG and the boardgame. I cannot believe the boardgame and all of its expansions are out of print while the HBO series is going. There is so much demand for the boardgame right now. I sold my base set and Clash of Kings expansion for $250! I think fans of the series are looking for the boardgame first, seeing that its out of print and than checking out the LCG. Now the LCG core is out of stock! Unbelievable!
I got very lucky then to find the core set available at my friendly local game store about 9 days ago. I had to order a number of the chapter packs online because there were several missing creating gaps in the entire series. City of Secrets being one I couldn't seem to find very easily online!
I assumed the original lack of Sets was because they let the HBO store have them to sell from there but this is geting pretty **** ridiculous. According to my LFG the Irish suplier simply Isnt getting any shipments of Thrones stuff from FFG o.O
I just got an email from an FFG employee who informed me they are going to be doubling their current print run of Core Sets. And the next shipmentt should be arriving soon.
I got the impression even FFG has been surprised by the magnitude of overwhelming demand for A Game of Thrones LCG. They seem to have expected an increase, just not this much of an increase.
I am glad to hear this.
What's really neat is that you can buy the Core St and Battles for Westeros at the HBO Game of Thrones store. THAT was really important and really should help us capitalize on the poularity of thehow. The boa game itslef though is not there - i wonder if FFGhas decided to kind of down play that property.
From the aforementioned HBO store there was one review of the card game. In that review by one "Kennon from Missouri" it reads:
lso, the community is one of the best in gaming and you'll find great people at many local gaming stores running a variety of competitive or casual gaming nights and events as well as some great community online. Do a few searches for Game of Thrones card game websites and discussion boards online to find some great information on the game. There's even a pretty solid podcast (2 Champs and a Chump) that offers thoughts on strategy and some discussion of the HBO TV series.

"Cross?" Or _self_-promote?
He does get the word out, doesn't he? LOL
Hey, what can I say? You do what you've gotta do!
In London, I think Leisure Games and Board Game Guru have some CS.
Amazon has some too.
