Flying Monsters & Expansions

By Nameless1, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Ok once again apologies if this was asked before but a cursory search on these forums and the wiki generated no hits so here goes.

With regards to expansions and flying monsters - how does the monster limit become affected?

I mean I understand that a flying monster in the sky counts towards the board limit. So if one were to swoop down on an investigator in an EXPANSION board would the monster count be reduced?

Similarly if a monster were to LEAVE an expansion board and go to the sky would the monster count be increased?

I see mention somewhere that if such a monster tried to go to the sky and the main board was at maximum it'd go to the Outskirts instead. True?

No apologies necessary...this forum would be 100th its size if not for the chance to answer questions like this one as we get new folks into the Carnival...

Okay, if a monster appears in Dunwich (Innsmouth) due to a gate opening or other event (not an Arkham Encounter, which regardless of the outcome vanishes after the encounter), it does NOT count toward the overall number on the Arkham map. If a flying monster on an expansion map leaves a unstable location and enters a street...thereby moving to the Sky ~ that does add one to the total allowed on the Arkham map. Also, as you state correctly, if the flying monster would exceed the limit on the Arkham map, the flying monster would go to the Outskirts.
