what do we know of arch-heretek Ammicus Tole?

By The Laughing God, in Dark Heresy

Ammicus Tole's tech-witches are detailed in Creatures Anathema, and mentioned to hail from Sinophia.

In The Radical's Handbook Tole and his witches are linked to the world of Cyclopea.

So what do we know of this arch-heretek anyway? who is he, what is his story (former Logician) and what are his goals? what kind of dark tech and experiments could he be assiociated with?

Magos Vathek, another renegade Mechanicus or dark magos, is predominantly concerned with anima mori, animation of the dead, so I guess Tole will be more busy with other things.

About his field of activity:

how can I use/slave warp engine into devices to achieve things I normally could not

CA's description of Cyclopea is almost the same as Sinophia: decay, slow rot, former grandeur now lost, and detached and distant Mechanicus hiding in their temples instead of combatting the tech-heresy springing up around them.

I will use Ammicus Tole as the Dark magos in my Ship of Fools adventure, if you recall, even though he seems to be more of a distant figure known predominantly through his works and the adoration of his witches.

As already mentioned Anmicus Tole is more some kind of occult techno-mystic. As far as I rmemeber his techno-witches are indeed mostly active in Cyclopea.

While the Adeptus Mechanicus in style is science/technology/engineering coupled with a major monotheistic religion, Anmicus Tole and his disciples/witches are more like science/technology/engineering coupled with voodoo and/or (neo-)paganism in a way. They pop up where even the AM’s hold on technology is weak. They are even more superstitious in regard to technology, but are on the other hand more viable in regard to improvisation and trying out through trial and error. This is further coupled with the willingness to use the warp (and even minor warp entities) to empower their technology.

So, in my view simply use classical voodoo, shamanism and pagan clichés and combine them with (pseudo-)technological stuff (e.g. an animated scarecrow like construct).

Hi Luthor,

Checking back I also only saw it in RH p.193 as you mentioned. Not sure whether it is mentioned somewhere else as well.

Oow I like that!

ps the info on Cyclopea was indeed from the Radical's Handbook.
