By Nekomura, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Okay, so I am helping my GM out with understanding how to fix the character sheets and it has given us a huge headache for the past day! lul. Erm, We found a PDF tha is a "guide" to creating a character but it is very vauge sad to say. Despite the headache, we relaly want to understand this because thus far, Anima is looking fun. So please be kind to us and help us noobs to this game get started?

My GM was the DM for our D&D game. We are on step 15/32 on the guide titled Spend DP and lvl 1= 600. However, what is the Base on secondary abilities on the character sheets? What is also the Bonus, SPE and class that adds up to the final? PLEASE HELP! Thankies! <3

My GM was wondering if anyone could provide a step by step guide that isnt as vauge as our current one, or better yet make a youtube video. That would be just simply epic and help us tremendously! Thanks!

I can give you a quick answer on this part. (Mind you, I haven't seen this guide, so I don't know if this will be redundant info for you.)

Ok, so you either just leveled up or your starting a new character, either way this information is the same.
You can use your DP for a multitude of things:

  1. Giving yourself additional weapon moduals/ skill moduals/ martial arts.
  2. Giving yourself Primary Skills
  3. Giving yourself Secondary Skills
  4. A number of other things that are listed rules wise in other books

With numbers 2 and 3, the math here can get complicated. With your primary skills(attack/block/dodge, magic projection, psychic projection), you can spend a maximum of 50~60% depending on your class. With first level, these numbers come out to 300 (50%) and 360 (60%). This is the maximum you can spend on your skill. This, by no means, means you HAVE to spend this much on these skills, just the max your allowed to put into them.

Now, onto your question about secondary skills. When you look at your character's class, it shows a number next to the category of skill. This indicates how much DP it takes to invest 1 point into the skill. Mind you, you need a minimum of 5 points in a skill to be trained in it, or be penalised -30 on the score when it's used in game. "Base" is where you indicate how many points of the skill you have. "Bonus" is determined by the bonus of your stat for that skill (whatever the skill is governed by.) "SPE" is 'SPEcial'. Mainly determined by the DM via equipment, roleplay, etc. "Class" is how much you get (a level) is your class gets any Innate Bonuses (IE Weaponmaster gets +5 to Feats of Strength a level.) All of those added together determine your Final value.

Hope this helps you out. Feel free to ask if you have more questions, or I wasn't clear enough.

The character sheet is a little ambiguous in places and so I am sure that the following intepretation may be different for some people:

Base is determined by how many DP you spend on the Secondary Ability. It is like skill ranks in D&D3e.

Bonus is based on your Primary Characteristic as seen on page 9. This is like ability modifiers in D&D3e.

Class is the bonus to Secondary Abilities listed for each Class. It is discussed on page 13 under Innate Class Bonus.

SPE is special and covers other bonuses. It covers the natural bonus discussed on page 13.
