In building a deck you can have up to 3 of one card, correct?
If so then do I have to buy 3 of a chapter pack to get 3 of some cards? I ask because I bought a chapter pack just because and I noticed that some of the cards only had 1 copy and others had 3. Seems kinda unfair from a tournament perspective because those that spend more money get 3 copies. I kinda thought the LCG format would require less money than a ccg.

You can have 3x of each card name.
Up until the Brotherhood cycle it all packs has a 10 cards that are 1x and 10 cards are 3x breakdown of card. Now it is 3x of each card. LCG is still cheaper because you don't have to buy 15 packs to find the one card you need.
yeah I gues it would still be cheaper $30 as opposed to about $60 plus you don't neccessarily need to buy 3 of each chapter pack to really be competitive whereas is ccg's having 4 of that 1 or 2 rares is nearly a must for a competitive deck . But I'm glad they did change it to 3 copies in Brotherhood.
