Dark Abyss, Seeking New Slaves and any Discard from Hand effect

By ivory_tower, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

I'm playing a DE control deck designed to take the other person's units. I'm also using Dark Abyss to get tactic cards into their graveyard for Mortella.

A situation came up where Dark Abyss caused a unit to be put into their discard pile at the start of my turn, can I use Seeking New Slaves to put that unit into play for me? Seeking new slaves doesn't say "Put target unit that entered an opponent's discard pile FROM PLAY...." But I kind of think it should as that was the mechanic used in magic (which this game is heavily based off of)

It seems unfair to get a Unit for 2 resources from this mechanic. Also, along these lines, if a Scout causes a unit to be discarded, can Seeking new slaves work on that unit as well?

Thanks guys.

Cards like Seeking New Slaves or Alluring Chosen indeed do not require the unit to have entered the discard pile from play. It can have been discarded from the hand, or from the top of the deck. Cards that require the unit to have come from play do say so in their text.

Yes you can (and for the same reason alluring chosen get +1 power).

Sorry for cross posting.

Nice, Alluring chosen will be a great addition to the deck. Any other DE combos you guys are using? I also put in Frenzied Witch Elf.

Sacrifice to Khaine works pretty well, too.

High Elf's Disdain - 2 cost = Counterspell also 2 mana

Soul Stealer - 4 cost = Control Magic 4 mana

The list goes on and on how they copied cards over to Invasion and adapted them. That's all I meant.
