New Cards

By Bludgeon, in Talisman

Ok here's another one.

Ring of Power - Magic Object

The burden of the ring bearer is heavy. Subtract 2 from your movement roll each turn. You may add 2 to any combat roll. Any player who defeats the ring bearer must take the ring as the prize. The ring may be dropped at the temple.

Confusion - Spell

The caster may control the direction of one players movement for 2 turns.

Loki - adventure card

The mischievous demon Loki has materialised in the Outer Region. Draw a spell card for each player and cast it against them. Finally draw a spell card against yourself! Loki vanishes to the discard pile.

Hi all!!

That idea of making cards is awesome.

Can i ask you how can i try to create mine please?

What programs do you use for it?

Thank you for support =)

I am hoping that some people will make new versions of the old cards from the second editions, that are not including with the main board or reaper expension. They are cards i want in a new version.

On talisman island i have seen a wildernis set. I like it somewhere, and it would be nice if someone update the cards, so that they fit with the revised edition.

we can use it then, until they come with a new edition set with more cards , so that we can switch the cards.

i keep my fingers crossed lol

i am currently thinking about some reaper events. The fourth edition is missing more dangerous cards. I hope that it will come one day.

This is exactly what I've been wanting as well. Like every single card and board expansion thing from 2e (and even the easily convertable 3e stuff) in the new card templates. At this point I don't even care if its the old art. It'd just be cool.

I guess the only question on why to do this is, "why not just play 2e then?" Which to that my only answers are that the new components (especially the board) are amazing, the new artwork is better, the rules on some stuff are more fine-tuned, etc.

I am sure people will convert cards as time goes on. Bear in mind though that there is still plenty of life left in the base game and Reaper expansion to keep you going until something new comes along!

I'm been looking at remaking the couple of small expansions I did for 4th Edition, and I will be embracing the ranged weapons concept brought in by Bludgeon (and the Fireball spell!) rather than allowing people to fire across vast tracts of land.

Here's there first one, for which I bought a DnD minis Medusa Archer yesterday, which saves on painting and it's ideal for the character!

...and don't mess with this guy...

I prefer the basilisk card to the medusa card I think it is much more balanced, nice one.

Take two:

Right I see. Well if its for a dungeon expansion you ve done then it is perfect as a big enemy- bit tough on the main board though The artwork for it is very good - did you do it yourself or is it from another artist?

For the 3rd edition dungeon, maybe, but on the main 4th board the Demon Tongue is overkill... and some of the bonuses just don't reason out. If it is a part of an overall expansion that will throw in a lot of overpowered demons, well, maybe, but even then its too many conditional bonuses on one item.

Here's another idea for a card...

Goblin Encampment

A horde of goblins block all roads past here. You may not pass unless you have the guide as a follower. Alternately you may surrender yourself and draw a new character card.

Quite a good card I think - especially if you have drawn a character you dont like and this card was drawn from the deck near the start of the game.

Or, this card could totally screw you over late in the game, causing you to immediatele lose. Not fun.

No this card is a barrier, just travel in the other direction, the encampment stays there for three turns. sorry forgot to put that in!! Any character drawing the card does nothing further and must turn around on his next go unless he has the guide or wants to surrender.

I believe rcmoore was afraid of its immediate effect. What happens to the Character who draws the card? Can he place it on the space with no effect?

Perhaps it should work like the Ghost or Hermit: roll a dice to decide where Goblins put their Camp.

If you read the second sentence of where you quoted me, that is what happens to the character who draws the actual card. This card would be quite good fun if there was a race for some items that are on a space just after the encampment, the person who was closest to getting them now becomes the furthest away unless they have a guide and it also provides an easy way to dispose of an unwanted character card if this card turns up early enough in the game. You could put say 2 in the deck. Im just trying to think of some different ideas really to add variety in the game mechanics. I have been thinkingalso that for a seperate board expansion, say a dungeon one, that it might be a good idea to develop a set of skill cards that are drawn as a means to tackle the obstacles of the board. One set skill card is given per character, for example the wizard could read runes or something. the thief has a better chance of avoiding traps etc and then a randomly drawn additional skill each.

When I have time I would quite like to design a warp gate expansion. A simple card allows access to the additional board, any character landing on it may choose to enter or for those who wish to avoid it must roll a 5 or 6 to avoid being drawn into the mysterious portal. Then the gameboards I'd like to do would probably be based around the lands of Allansia (from the Fighting Fantasy gamebooks of old) - as a start I think the warlock of firetop mountain would make a great dungeon board along with the forest of doom and the citadel of chaos.

My other project that I may very well start quite soon is to do my own sculpts for Talisman characters. possibly make them as just small busts to represent the characters rather than a full body sculpt. Click here to view my work in progress thread on some of my other current sculpts...

I think I could do some good representations of the Talisman characters with super sculpey and make a nice little display base featuring the Talisman logo or something along that line.

I do like the idea of having a "barrier" card for which you might need to meet special conditions to pass through (like having a guide). I do think that drawing a new character card is not really a viable option unless it is so early in the game and your current character has not progressed any. Assuming you did do this, what would happen to any items/followers/tokens you had acquired? Would they be left at the encampment? When pulling another character, would you start out at your start site?

The basic rules for drawing a new character should be followed as if you had been killed by another player. All items and followers would be lost as the goblins would doubtlessly murder your followers and steal your possessions!!!

Hey guys,

Im not very computer savy, and don't have photoshop. Does anyone know of any step by step instructions on how to make home brewed cards? I downloaded the templates and fonts from Talisman Island, but I can't really figure out how to put the components together. Thanks a bunch.

Blimey!! That work is absolutely stunning!!!!! Count me in for a copy if you ever manage to get something going on. I like the use of the spice jars for your jarheads btw.. very cool.

As an aside, if you can email me or add me to Messenger or something (links on my site's index page) then please do - I have a cunning plan...!

Thanks, glad you like them. The talisman busts will be a big project due to the sheer number of characters in the game, but I think it will be an interesting project - I will start a thread when work begins. My favourite character is the Sage, so he may well get first treatment. I will be in touch with you, no worries.
