New Cards

A Royal "decree" wouldn't work in the Forest, Crags, or Chasm logically. Those are wild untamed places and governed by intelligent or law abiding creatures who'd give a **** what the King/Queen have to say... and there are already Followers who cover this. Likewise, the Black Knight isn't law abiding if he'll take a life if you don't pay him (that's Ransom). And a drunken brawler in the Tavern won't bother to stop and hear/read it.

Getting past the Sentinel should be good enough as an Object, though you could add free healing at the Castle as for the Prince, Princess.

HEARTH GUARDIAN is actually a nice notion, but I'd make it a Stranger instead of an Enemy. That way, GOOD characters won't wack it for a Trophy anyway when they land in the Village. And Evil characters also get nothing for it. It is essentially an "Archon" rather than an enemy to face, as it implies a sense of Alignment in itself as a Spiritual (not Spirit) emissary for the powers of Good (or at least Peace and Balance).

Hmmm... what about something similar in a Stranger - but on the side of Evil - that would settle on the City? Any thoughts?

I've already considered something like this myself for a future expansion, but for Neutral (Balance of Nature) that settles on the Temple. In my case, Evil and Good characters only have to fight it if they choose to Pray, and it gives a +1 in Praying to any Neutral character.

I'd be careful with Arcane Blade. Spells should be semi-difficult to acquire, aside from the needed craft. Some can change game balance in minor ways at an instant. Maybe... to get the spell, the character has to forfeit the trophy acquired? Obviously s/he would keep the big trophies, but then sacrifice the little ones to get that spell. Kinda like sacrificing the enemies life to the magic.

I thought that arcane blade would be on par with the runesword. If it's better, I can see few possibilities:

- as you suggest, take spell instead of trophy

- roll to see if you gain a spell

- gain a spell only if you have no spells

- gain a spell if you win by 2 points

Which would work best?

Also, I'm thinking about similar weapon but granting Fate.

For a weapon that grants Fate, I'd make it a leech form and not just something that grants Fate. If used to attack another Character, in addition to Life or Gold, they can drain one Fate if the opponent has any... or maybe 2 Fate, since this option means they don't get fate against any other opponents.

Stranger you say? Hmm, maybe like this:

Hearth Guardian

Stranger

Put on Village space. Any evil character that ends his move there must roll a die and add his total Craft.

7 or less: Guardian repels you. Lose 1 Life.

8 or more: You banish the guardian (put in on the discard pile)

Evil version could haunt the Temple perhaps?

I split royal decree into several cards and started a new topic about it.

I'd still go with giving him a Craft rating to fight. That's still okay. The difference is that a character can't attack a Stranger... but the Stranger can attack the character. This way, the guardian remains untouched unless it choses to engage in Combat. And as a Stranger, it doesn't qualify for a Trophy. It's a little bit of rule bending, but there are already spaces where characters have to fight something and don't get a trophy for it.

The Temple is an ALL Alignment space, so maybe Evil wouldn't be a good choice. I only suggested the city because (1) it's akin to the Village, a place where people actually live, and (2) a location Evil would want to control to influence the land. The Temple should probably remain unaffected and available to all... which is why I've dropped my own idea to making a Neutral "guardian" type for it. But... whatever floats you boat either way.

Hey how about allowing something like the Arcane Blade to be used during psychic combat as well and give a +1....

Hi

Is there someone who can translate this card to english?

I am wondering what this card says..

i am new here. Nice to meet you all;)

( Bludgeon: i have seen your cards on talisman island. I like the pictures from the centaur and air elemental)

It's my card so I can translate it :)

It goes like this:

Temptress

Follower

Temptress allows you to add 1 to the roll in Battle and Psychic Combat. However, if you lose Battle or Psychic Combat with another Character, Temptress will abandon you and join the winner.

Errr, it says Stranger and some other words? What made you look there in the first place?

Geoff

Hi Bludgeon,

Thanks for the quick answer.

I thought it was medusa, with a normal head. ;(

I hope someone can make her someday. I can't wait for it lol;) ( but then with a ugly head of course haha;)

Anyway, can you also translate the card with the traveling bear..

i am wondering what it does;)

Wuka, the Old Beekeeper

Follower

From the swarm of bees Wuka, the Old Beekeper emerges. Magic aura of his bees makes you untargetable by Spells.

And I already made Medusa, but it's also in polish.

Hi Bludgeon

Can you show me the card, and translate it. I am wondering how it looks like.. ( if you want of course) gran_risa.gif

Ps: i think that the traveling bear is too good. as long as a character has the traveling bear, i can not use spells on the player. The chance is low( i think) that he would lose the bear in the game. ( otherwise he would kept it maybe for the whole game;) sad.gif

Yes

Medusa

Enemy - Spirit

Craft 6

Every character that loses a combat with medusa must roll a die to determine the repercussions:

1. You turn to stone. The game ends for you.

2-3. Lose 2 Life.

4-6. Lose 1 Life.

Too much... petrification has been used in other fan expansions, board variations, etc. And we don't need another Reaper instant death option. Petrification should simply be for a number of turns lost in which nothing can be done and other characters who land on the victim can automatically steal one object, follower, or gold... if they don't get wacked by the Medusa in turn.

Where do You found this cards?

Can anyone give me some tips on how to print cards so they fit well with the standard decks? Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this question.

Regarding the medusa card, i think it is a definite no no losing your life, better to lose 2 or 3 turns as said in the previous post. However as your possessions also become stone nobody can steal anything from you!

My own ideas for some new cards would be:

Buried Treasure - receive 5 gold (max of say about 2 cards in deck) a nice quick cash boost - especially if you are the merchant

Captured by Pirates - roll a d6 and 1-3= move clockwise, 4-6 move anticlockwise and get transported 2d6 spaces in that direction before you can escape their evil clutches.

Immortal Warrior (strength 7) The immortal warrior once in play moves around the board searching for worthy opponents. If you defeat him in combat he moves 1d6 around the board. He can only be actually killed by rolling a 6 for your attack roll (off with his head!). He is immune to magic and you cannot use fate to reroll - it is your destiny to fight him!

Treasure Map - Place 4 gold in a randomly chosen space in the middle region. Anyone who owns the treasure map may claim it as theirs! Or this card could allow the player to search the deck for the first magic object they come to and use this as the treasure. cards are obviously reshuffled.

Doppleganger. The doppleganger takes on the appearance of the character to your left and fights with the same strength and craft and may use all his special abilities in combat against you.

Bad News Back Home. You receive bad tidings from your family and must return to your starting space.

Evil Contract. Somebody has taken out a contract on your life. Any player taking 1 life from you may claim the reward (3g) in addition to their normal reward.

Giant!!! (strength 9) Move the giant around the board clockwise 2d6 per turn. Any space he lands on remove any adventure cards/ weapons/ objects/gold etc to the discard pile as he clumsily destroys the landscape. Any character on this space must lose 1 life. You may choose to fight the giant if you wish but he will not attack anyone.

Apologies if these cards already exist in some form but i have not had time to scour through much custom made stuff and i have only just started playing this again (last time i played i was very young - at least 15 years ago now!!) played 2 won 2!! (sage/druid)

Hi

( about the medusa card)

Maybe it's a idea that you first lose a life as normal( if you lose the combat)

And then you must roll a dice what will happen to you

1-2 you are turned to stone and miss 1 turn

3-4 the snakes bite you and you lose one strenght for 2 turns ( as excample

5-6 you are turned to stone and miss 2 turns

Nobody can steal from you because all your possesions are into stone( except your followers lol)

It would be nice if you give medusa a bow ! ( same as the idea of Bludgeon)

Roll a dice and add +2 to the score (if it is above your strength, you lose a life)

(you don't want to draw medusa ! ( off course, she is ugly lol)

Medusa stays the way it is. I didn't make that card, only update it to 4.5e.

Medusainenglish.jpg?t=1233359203

I have update the Medusa card to english !

She is a powerful being. Look out for her. It would be wise to save some fate points lol

If the Reaper can't get you, then you must deal with Medusa ! She wants to make a statue from you lol gran_risa.gif
